Russia reports strikes on Ukrainian facilities, Ukraine claims launching deep strikes in Russia

Russia said on Sunday that its forces launched strikes on Ukrainian facilities while Ukraine, on the same day, reported a series of deep strikes targeting assets well within Russian territory over the past 24 hours.

In an official statement, Russia's Defense Ministry said that over the past day, Russian troops struck 146 locations in Ukraine, targeting transport infrastructure, ammunition and military supply depots, drone production and storage facilities, and temporary deployment points for Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries.

The ministry also said that Ukrainian forces had launched large-scale attacks using drones and missiles against Russian territory between Saturday and Sunday in an attempt to disrupt the State Duma elections; in response, Russian forces would continue and intensify the use of precision-guided weapons to strike military targets in Kiev.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that Ukraine had launched long-range strikes against Russia's Moscow region that day, hitting a key facility in the Russian oil industry and a logistics site. Additionally, Ukraine struck a facility in Russia's Voronezh region.

The 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Sunday that Ukrainian forces had secured control over parts of the territory during a counteroffensive in the northern Donetsk region.

Also on the same day, Zelensky said that he had spoken by phone with U.S. President Donald Trump that day, and the two sides agreed to hold a meeting in New York in the near future.

Zelensky remarked that this meeting "could bring about significant changes" and noted that the diplomatic process is currently moving forward. He mentioned the recent visit to Kiev by U.S. Presidential Envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, saying that in-depth discussions on key details had taken place; the Ukrainian side proposed measures regarding de-escalation, as well as issues concerning energy security, food security, and the protection of civilians.

China will support Chinese and foreign enterprises in making joint technological breakthroughs to help upgrade the auto industry, Wang Weiming, chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), said on Saturday.

Wang made the statement as nine government departments on September 10 released a plan for the development of the intelligent connected NEV industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), a major document that has drawn wide attention across the industry.

The plan states that China will open up new prospects for global industrial cooperation and help build global industrial and supply chains. It calls for strengthening top-level design for the international development of the auto industry and guiding companies to deepen international cooperation through trade, investment and technological cooperation.

Speaking at the 2026 International Forum (TEDA) on Chinese Automotive Industry Development, which took place in Tianjin from Thursday to Sunday, Wang noted that in recent years many multinational companies have deepened cooperation with Chinese firms. China has also led the formulation of 18 global technical regulation documents and 30 international standards, deeply integrating into global industrial and supply chains.

He also said China will continue to pursue internationalized innovation and global development, oppose all forms of protectionism, and promote mutual recognition of international standards and rules.

"China supports Chinese and foreign enterprises in jointly carrying out technological breakthroughs, sharing innovation results and building an industrial ecosystem together, so as to jointly promote the transformation and upgrading of the global auto industry," Wang said.
