Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that Ukraine was ready to halt attacks on Russian energy facilities, although Moscow said conditions for peace talks were still not in place.
After meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York, Zelensky said the two discussed possible de-escalation steps, including an "energy ceasefire", that could pave the way for a diplomatic settlement.
Zelensky also said he was ready for a trilateral meeting with Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that there were no conditions for moving toward peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
Russia's position on a meeting between Putin and Zelensky remains unchanged, said Peskov, adding that Zelensky could come to Moscow for talks.
