Iran is willing to negotiate and cooperate, but will not accept being forced in to making concessions by power, sanctions or military threats, President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian told the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Wednesday.
In his address to the General Assembly's General Debate, Pezeshkian said peace must be based on fairness, justice, dignity and equal rights of all countries.
He stressed that Iran's stance on safeguarding national security, sovereignty and the peaceful use of nuclear technology holds that its own defense capabilities are an important guarantee to avoid external threats, while denying the pursuit of security through hegemonic means.
Pezeshkian criticized the double standards of some countries on the Iranian nuclear issue and the Palestinian question, arguing that continued occupation, aggression and injustice will intensify regional conflicts.
He said war and military power cannot replace international law, or diplomatic and political dialogue, and called for achieving common security through regional cooperation.
