Initiative combines housing support with fire insurance protection to provide greater financial security for Orang Asli families
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – Media OutReach Newswire – 2 October 2026 – MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd ("MSIG Malaysia"), the country's third largest fire insurer, has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to strengthening community resilience through its continued collaboration with EPIC Homes. The initiative reflects the joint effort of MSIG Malaysia and EPIC Homes to support Orang Asli families through housing initiatives and fire insurance protection.
As part of this long-standing collaboration, MSIG Malaysia continues to provide fire insurance protection for homes built by EPIC Homes for the Orang Asli families. This insurance coverage helps families manage the financial impact of unforeseen incidents while reinforcing the long-term resilience of the Orang Asli community, reflecting the company's continued efforts to protecting communities beyond traditional insurance solutions.
This year, MSIG Malaysia supported Orang Asli families in Simpang Pulai with the completion of two new homes. In July, 31 employees, including Chief Executive Officer Ms. Ang Yien Chia, worked alongside EPIC Homes volunteers over three days to complete the first home. In September, another 25 employees came together for the second build. Through these efforts, MSIG Malaysia helped provide beneficiary families with improved living conditions and a stronger sense of stability.
Chief Executive Officer of MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd, Ms. Ang Yien Chia, said:
"We aim to give Orang Asli homeowners greater confidence that they have financial support, should unforeseen events occur. The value of this protection has already been demonstrated, such as in 2025, a home covered under the programme was damaged during a storm, and the insurance claim helped fund the necessary repairs."
"This reinforces the important role insurance can play in helping families recover more quickly and protecting the homes they have worked so hard to build. Through our continued collaboration with EPIC Homes, we remain committed to strengthening the resilience of underserved communities."
As of August 2026, MSIG Malaysia has contributed towards the protection of over 300 homessince partnering with EPIC Homes in 2018. The collaboration supports Orang Asli families by pairing sustainable housing initiatives with fire insurance protection, reinforcing the long-term resilience of these communities.
Mr. John-Son Oei, Founder and CEO of EPIC Homes, said:
"We are grateful to continue our partnership with MSIG Malaysia, whose unwavering commitment has helped transform the lives of families through safe and dignified housing. Building a home is about much more than constructing walls and a roof—it creates the foundation for families to live with security, stability and hope for the future.
What makes this collaboration especially meaningful is MSIG Malaysia's commitment to extending insurance protection beyond the build itself through its fire insurance coverage. This thoughtful addition provides beneficiary families with greater financial security while highlighting the importance of long-term resilience and financial preparedness. Together, we are creating sustainable impact that will benefit not only individual families but the wider community."
The continued collaboration with EPIC Homes translates MSIG Malaysia's commitment to championing inclusive and community-empowering initiatives into meaningful action through funding, employee volunteerism and insurance protection for the Orang Asli communities.

Five-year collaboration will build the technology, data, and delivery capabilities needed to translate genomic research into real-world healthcare applications under Singapore's National Precision Medicine programme.
SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 2 October 2026 – Precision Health Research, Singapore (PRECISE), and AI & digital transformation company, Temus, signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a PRECISE-Temus Joint Innovation Centre (JIC), a five-year collaboration to support the technology, data, and delivery capabilities for Phase III of Singapore's National Precision Medicine (NPM) programme.
The signing took place at the Precision Health Partnerships in Singapore event, witnessed by Guest of Honour Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies.
The JIC brings together PRECISE's leadership of Singapore's national precision medicine programme with Temus's vision-to-value with velocity approach to transformation. It will help translate precision medicine from research into practical applications by strengthening the digital infrastructure, operating models, and safeguards needed to manage genomic data securely and responsibly.
Supporting Phase III of NPM
NPM's Phase III, launched in November 2025, aims to sequence the genomes of about 10 per cent of Singapore's local resident population (450,000 residents) - and build evidence on how genomic information can be used responsibly in healthcare at population scale, while continuing to support research into health and disease.
"Phase III is not simply about sequencing more genomes. It is about ensuring that NPM Phase III can manage genomic data securely and responsibly, in ways that support both research and care. The Joint Innovation Centre gives us a practical way to develop the platforms we need, keep them current and ensure they continue to meet evolving needs in this fast developing field without compromising security or scientific quality," said Professor Patrick Tan, Executive Director of PRECISE.
The JIC builds on work that PRECISE and Temus have undertaken together since 2024, providing a proven foundation for the next phase of the partnership. This includes plans to build a secure genomics data infrastructure that handles around 13.6 petabytes of genomic data – scaling to more than 60 petabytes, cutting data-processing timelines from weeks to days, and generating genome-wide association results for 100,000 genomes. The work spans data pipelines, research platforms, and visualisation solutions.
Building on secure genomics infrastructure
The JIC aims to place this work within a longer-term operating model. Scientists and engineers will work together to develop shared platforms for processing and analysing whole-genome data efficiently, sustainably and securely. The centre will also help ensure that these platforms can be maintained and improved as programme needs evolve, rather than rebuilt for each new project.
The team will also establish structured processes and appropriate safeguards to assess and integrate emerging methodologies and technologies, including AI-enabled tools.
"Precision health is a powerful example of why technology alone is not the solution. The science is advancing at a rapid pace, and AI is giving us increasingly powerful tools, but that requires trusted data, strong engineering, appropriate safeguards and people who know how to make all of those pieces work together," said Sng Ren Yeong, Chief Executive Officer of Temus.
"We are honoured to deepen our partnership and support for PRECISE. Together, we can help turn scientific priorities into useful platforms scalably for researchers and practitioners, while building the talent and institutional capabilities needed to sustain that progress for Singapore over the long term."
Developing talent and delivery capability
Beyond enabling precision health and innovation, the JIC is expected to build specialist delivery capability development across Singapore's precision health ecosystem. In partnership with PRECISE, Temus plans to explore talent development pathways for specialist consultants and engineers in areas such as computational biology and bioinformatics specific to precision medicine and genomics. These specialists would work alongside research and technology teams to build practical expertise through live projects.
For Temus, the JIC also represents a significant healthcare application of its AI Foundry, one of the priority sectors under Singapore's National AI Impact Programme. Launched in May 2026 at ATxSummit with support from Digital Industry Singapore, the AI Foundry is hiring, developing and deploying 50 Singapore-based AI professionals in live enterprise projects, building production-grade AI assets, data pipelines, governance frameworks and human-in-the-loop systems for regulated and operationally complex environments.
