China is expected to record more than 300 million cross-regional passenger trips on Tuesday, the sixth day of the week-long National Day holiday, as passenger flows remain high across rail, road, civil aviation and waterway, according to official data.

The railway network is expected to handle 22.1 million passenger trips on Tuesday, with 2,199 additional trains scheduled to meet travel demand, according to the Ministry of Transport.

As the holiday draws to a close, the return traffic on roads is beginning to rise. According to the ministry's traffic assessment, 44 expressway sections nationwide are likely to experience congestion on Tuesday, mainly in Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hunan, Anhui, Zhejiang and Shaanxi provinces.

Civil aviation passenger volume is projected to reach 2.47 million trips on Tuesday. The busiest air routes include those connecting Shenzhen with Shanghai, Beijing and Hangzhou, as well as routes linking Shanghai with Guangzhou and Beijing.

Meanwhile, waterway passenger volume is estimated at 1.39 million trips on Tuesday, marking a 25.3 percent increase year on year.

The 77th International Astronautical Congress kicked off on Monday in Antalya, Türkiye's Mediterranean resort city on Monday, with hot topics including lunar exploration, satellite systems, artificial intelligence, space security and international cooperation taking center stage.

Held in Türkiye for the first time, the five-day event is expected to draw more than 10,000 participants, including space leaders, researchers and industry representatives, from over 100 countries and regions across the world.

At a time of growing geopolitical tension, the congress also echoes the theme "The World Needs More Space," a call for more room for cooperation, both on Earth and beyond.

Competition is also becoming more visible on the exhibition floor. Alongside the world's leading space-faring nations such as the United States, China and Russia, countries including Türkiye are rapidly expanding their capabilities, as reflected in their exhibits.

This competition is unfolding against a rapidly growing market. The global space economy is already worth around 600 billion U.S. dollars a year and could reach 1.8 trillion dollars by 2035. More young people are also entering the sector.

"So we thought maybe we can send those enzymes to Mars and create a thermoforming study there. And I think it would be great," said Meryem Kara, a student from Baykar Science High School.

"Yes, this project is actually not a laboratory project. We are working on simulating programs, but we would like to improve our project in laboratory," said Hayriye Beray Cinkara, another student from Baykar Science High School.

"I'm focused on space robots like embodied intelligence in ground with a lot of human robots, and my aim is to put these robots to the space," said Zhao Shengyun, a student from Beihang University.

"My research focuses on the motion and orientation of the nano-particles in soft matter and under microgravity, and this kind provides the theoretical basis for in space manufacturing," said Zhang Jia, another student from Beihang University.

First held in 1950, the International Astronautical Congress is the largest and most prestigious annual gathering in the global space community, known as the "Olympics of Space." It takes place in a different country or region each year.

Organized by the International Astronautical Federation, the congress serves as a major platform for scientific exchange, business contacts and discussions on the development of the global space sector.

The International Astronautical Federation will also present a number of space awards during the event, with the World Space Award as its highest honor. Chinese space projects and space professionals have won this award multiple times.
