Cyclothon Carnival Returns to West Kowloon This Sunday with Free Admission, New Sports and Family Fun

The Cyclothon Carnival, organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) as part of the Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon, will be held this Sunday (October 11) at the West Kowloon Cultural District. Admission is free.

The carnival will offer a range of new sports experiences, including pickleball, padel and teqball, alongside family activities such as children's cycling trials, face painting and balloon twisting. Popular food brands, a sports market and stage performances will run from morning to evening, creating a vibrant Sunday experience for all ages.

Sunrise Chill sets a relaxed tone for the day, featuring performances by local a cappella groups and singers, along with cycling-themed showcases, such as artistic cycling demonstrations. UCI race events will be broadcast live on-site, allowing visitors to enjoy the performances while soaking up the excitement of this world-class cycling spectacle. As evening approaches, Sunset Groove will turn up the energy with an action-packed programme of dance and fitness performances. Visitors can look forward to rope skipping, breakdancing, belly dancing, rhythmic gymnastics, and more, creating an upbeat carnival atmosphere.

The carnival features a variety of interactive experience zones where visitors can try emerging sports such as paddleball and teqball for free. A Tennis 9-grid Challenge will be available for those looking to test their skills. Families with children will find plenty to enjoy, including a kids’ bike trial, art jamming, balloon twisting and face painting. Together with a giant photo installation, the carnival promises a fun-filled day for visitors of all ages.

To enrich the Hong Kong Cyclothon experience, the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) will also launch special Hong Kong Cyclothon packages for both M+ and the HKPM. Each package includes one museum admission ticket and one complimentary one-way WestK Ferry ticket, encouraging visitors to enjoy the stunning views of Victoria Harbour and explore the museums’ exhibitions. tokyobike hk, a cycling brand based in WestK will also introduce a special bicycle rental promotion with discounts of up to 20% on the day. In support of the event, several restaurants and cafés in WestK Art Park will progressively begin operating from 8:00 am onwards. More than 25 dining outlets across the District will offer exclusive discounts and special promotions, including a 10% discount on picnic essential rentals available from WestK Picnic Fest, for Cyclothon participants. Cyclothon participants can present a valid event bib of the event to enjoy the offers; some of these offers are valid throughout October. WKCDA will announce further details in due course.

Correctional officers stop remand person in custody from attacking staff member

Correctional officers at Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre stopped a female remand person in custody from attacking a staff member inside a hospital ward today (October 8).

At 10.20am today, a 50-year-old female remand person in custody suddenly became emotional and attacked a correctional officer inside a hospital ward. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the assailant and called for reinforcement.

During the incident, the officer being attacked sustained an injury to her face. She did not need to be sent to a public hospital after examination and treatment by the institution Medical Officer. The assailant did not sustain any injuries.

The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

The assailant was remanded for the offence of robbery in 2026.
