The cumulative electricity transmission through the China-Laos 500-kV cross-border alternating-current power link surpassed 1 billion kilowatt-hours as of Thursday, marking a new milestone in energy cooperation between the two countries.
The project was put into operation in April this year. As the largest and highest-voltage power connection between the two neighbors, it triples cross-border transmission capacity from 50 megawatts to 150 megawatts.
The power link is expected to transmit 3 billion kWh of clean electricity annually, 30 times the capacity of previous lines.
The project serves not only as a tangible infrastructure connection, but also strengthens the bond between the two peoples and supports the optimized allocation of clean energy between the two countries.
