A unique landscape blending autumn and winter emerged in the Kanas scenic area of Altay Prefecture in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, after rain and snow swept through the area on Friday.
After the precipitation, the temperature difference caused by the vertical elevation in the middle section of the Altai Mountains divided the landscape into golden and silver stripes.
In lower-altitude river valleys, where temperatures were higher and precipitation fell mostly as sleet, the forest retained its colorful autumn hues.
In contrast, at higher elevations along ridges and in mountain forests, temperatures dropped below zero, evoking a vast winter scene.
The local meteorological department forecasts that this round of rain and snow in Altay will continue until Saturday.
