ugee maker Launches: A Curated, AI-Powered, Kid-Friendly 3D Printing Community for Families and 3D Printing Beginners

HONG KONG, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The consumer 3D printing industry has developed rapidly, placing high-speed, reliable desktop manufacturing hardware into hundreds of thousands of homes. Hardware has become faster and more affordable. However, the community ecosystem still leaves beginners stranded. Today's households face a frustrating dilemma: technical communities that lack safety and guidance for young beginners, or family-friendly platforms accessible only by buying a specific brand's hardware.

ugee maker introduces a third, easy-to-use, family-friendly option designed for parents, kids, and beginners. This community provides a collaborative space for shared creativity and discovery—allowing parents to explore curated, high-quality models and guide their kids through hands-on design, while giving newcomers a seamless, barrier-free entry into the world of 3D printing.

Curated & Print-Ready: A 3D Model Library You Can Trust

For novice makers, failed prints stemming from faulty 3D files are often the single biggest source of frustration. ugee maker eliminates this hurdle with a meticulously curated model library. Every official ugee file is professionally pre-tested and validated to ensure smooth, reliable printing across virtually all consumer-grade 3D printers. The library is built on three pillars: Seed Builds, where officially tuned and validated models serve as the foundation for hassle-free printing; User Model Uploads, encouraging the community to share original creations; and Artist Models, developed in collaboration with professional artists to deliver high-aesthetic designs.

Unlike massive public repositories whose unvetted catalogs require tedious searching and risk exposing families to unmoderated content or overly complex designs, ugee maker delivers a strictly moderated, kid-safe 3D model library. With weekly official releases alongside standout contributions from global creators, the catalog offers endless inspiration—ranging from interactive playsets and seasonal projects to STEM-focused models. All designs are packaged in universal STL format, delivering a truly guesswork-free printing experience.

ugee maker model library does not exist in isolation—it is deeply integrated with the broader ugee ecosystem. The ugee ufun app has already provided users worldwide with a convenient mobile management experience and built a sizable community of families and young makers. Building on this foundation, ugee maker further strengthens moderation mechanisms and expands content categories, offering users more exquisite and immersive model choices. Users can browse and select models through ugee maker, download them to ugee ufun, and print them via the ugee Funbox 3D printer—creating a seamless journey from inspiration discovery and model selection to finished output.

AI-Driven, Fun, and Customizable: How CreateLab Inspires Next-Gen Makers

Recognizing that conventional parametric CAD software alienates younger learners and novices, ugee maker introduces Create Lab. It turns 3D creation into an engaging, gamified experience—requiring zero prior CAD or 3D modeling experience. Through a suite of playful, intuitive tools, CreateLab nurtures children's spatial reasoning, problem-solving skills, and creativity from day one.

A standout feature is "AI Magic," powered by a strategic partnership with leading generative 3D platform Meshy AI. Children can simply sketch their wildest ideas—from dinosaurs and mythical monsters to spaceships—and upload their images to CreateLab, which automatically transforms the doodles into print-ready 3D model files. This creates an open-ended creative workflow that brings children's drawings to life as physical objects on any standard 3D printer.

Meanwhile, "Fun Playground" , uses a modular drag-and-drop interface, this mode allows users to assemble and personalize ready-to-use models. In themed experiences like "Garden World," kids can freely select and position flowers to design their dream garden. This hands-on interaction helps children naturally grasp foundational concepts such as 3D coordinate space and volume—delivering an approachable, edutainment-driven entry point into the 3D world.

Kid-Friendly and Parent-Approved: A Design That Welcomes Everyone

ugee maker is built from the ground up with young makers and their parents in mind. The platform features a child-friendly interface with playful UI design, colorful banners, and intuitive icons that make navigation effortless for even the youngest users. Core actions—such as importing a model and sharing a creation—are kept as simple as possible, with preset text options and cute emojis that lower the barrier for kids and parents to comment and engage. For first-time users, a dedicated onboarding guide and a comprehensive support center provide step-by-step tutorials, technical Q&A, and FAQs, ensuring that both kids and parents can get started with confidence and ease. Every detail is designed to make 3D printing feel approachable, safe, and fun for the whole family.

ugee maker is officially live with an exclusive $1,000 prize giveaway! Users who sign up for a ugee maker account will be entered into the lucky draw for a chance to win!

Hosted by Jeremy Irons, honoring Arturo Sandoval with tribute to Frank Gehry introduced by Special Guest Gustavo Dudamel

PARIS, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Malou Oheix, age 27, from France won the 2026 Herbie Hancock Institute International Jazz Vocals Competition presented in partnership and with the support of Fondation Louis Vuitton. The Competition Finals concluded a landmark weekend in Paris, marking the first time in its nearly four-decade history this prestigious Competition has been held outside the United States. Oheix received the $50,000 First Place Scholarship, presented onstage by Jean-Paul Claverie, Advisor to the President and Administrator of the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

Selected on Saturday by an all-star jury comprising Dee Dee Bridgewater, Roberta Gambarini, Angélique Kidjo, Gretchen Parlato and Gregory Porter, the three finalists took the stage on Sunday evening in the Fondation Louis Vuitton Auditorium.

First-place winner Malou Oheix delivered two contrasting performances, displaying captivating vulnerability in "I'm Glad There Is You" and a bold and playful interpretation of Michael Brecker's "Madame Toulouse."

Second-place winner Georgia Heers delivered a flawless performance of "Moon Don't Come Out Tonight," followed by a beautifully narrated rendition of "Thou Swell." While third-place winner Lucy-Anne Daniels offered a powerful Afro-Cuban interpretation of "Nature Boy" and a distinctive take on "Old Devil Moon."

Throughout the Competition, the vocalists were accompanied by a transformative rhythm section featuring Carmen Staaf on piano, Ben Williams on bass and Kendrick Scott on drums.

Hosted by Academy Award-winning actor Jeremy Irons, the Competition Finals & Gala transformed the Frank Gehry-designed Fondation Louis Vuitton into an international celebration of jazz, bringing together generations of leading artists and celebrating the music's deep and enduring relationship with Paris.

The evening honored 10-time GRAMMY Award winner Arturo Sandoval with the Institute's Maria Fisher Founder's Award, presented by Herbie Hancock in recognition of Sandoval's extraordinary artistry and contributions to jazz and music education. An international all-star ensemble featuring musical director John Beasley, Till Brönner, Terri Lyne Carrington, Nils Landgren, John Patitucci and Walter Smith III saluted Sandoval with "Caprichosos de La Habana." After accepting the honor, Sandoval took the stage for an intimate performance of Charlie Chaplin's classic "Smile" with Patitucci and Carrington.

Gustavo Dudamel, special guest of the evening, led a personal tribute to the late visionary architect Frank Gehry, a longtime Board member and friend of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz. The moment took on special significance at Fondation Louis Vuitton, Gehry's architectural masterpiece in Paris, whose origins date to 2001, when Bernard Arnault met Gehry after visiting the architect's Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Dudamel reflected on Gehry's life, creative spirit and far-reaching contributions to art, architecture and culture. Berta Gehry, Frank Gehry's wife, was among the guests in attendance. The tribute culminated in the world premiere of The Ever-Changing World, a new composition by acclaimed Panamanian pianist and composer Danilo Pérez, commissioned by the Institute in Gehry's honor. Pérez was joined by Till Brönner, Walter Smith III, Tineke Postma, Sébastien Surel, Pierre-François Dufour, John Patitucci and Terri Lyne Carrington for the work's two movements, "Us" and "Optimistic Chaos."

Under the musical direction of two-time GRAMMY Award-winning pianist, composer and arranger John Beasley, the Gala also traced Paris' remarkable place in jazz history. Dee Dee Bridgewater joined by Jamaican pianist Monty Alexander for "J'ai Deux Amours" as a salute to Josephine Baker.

Herbie Hancock was joined by Ambrose Akinmusire, the 2007 Institute Trumpet Competition winner, marking the centennials of Miles Davis and John Coltrane with a stirring rendition of "So What," honoring two jazz giants whose lives and legacies were deeply intertwined with Paris.

The celebration continued with an all-star interpretation of Bud Powell's "Parisian Thoroughfare," evoking the pioneering pianist's years in the French capital, before Gregory Porter brought the evening's musical journey to a fitting close with "April in Paris."

The Gala also featured the Herbie Hancock Institute Ensemble, which opened the evening with a special arrangement of the jazz standard "Autumn Leaves." These gifted young musicians from around the world receive full scholarships to attend the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance, the Institute's prestigious master's degree program at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music in Los Angeles.

The Competition and Gala were presented by the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz in partnership and with the support of Fondation Louis Vuitton. The weekend's events reached audiences around the world via livestream on FLV Play, medici.tv and in 4K on YouTube.

Air transportation for the artists and the international roster of competitors was provided by United Airlines, the Official Airline of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz.
