Established in 2016, the Future Science Prize presents three awards every year aiming to give recognition to scientists who have achieved outstanding scientific results on the Chinese Mainland, in Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan, with the goal of inspiring China, the world and the next generation with the spirit of science.

The Life Science Prize laureate of the Future Science Prize this year is Dr Zhang Hong for pioneering contributions to the mechanism and physiological function of autophagy specific in multicellular organisms. The Physical Science Prize is awarded to ProfessorZhao Dongyuan for pioneering contributions to mesoporous materials in the context of synthetic control, mechanistic understanding and industrial application. ProfessorYuan Xinyi receives the Mathematics and Computer Science Prize for his fundamental contributions to arithmetic geometry.

A number of multimedia and interactive exhibits are on display, which allow visitors to explore the relevant scientific knowledge and applications of award-winning fields in the past, including cryptography, catalysis and hepatitis virus, in a simple way. The "Digital Fingerprint Lab" invites visitors to experience the magic of cryptography in detecting forgery and to explore the research of Professor Wang Xiaoyun, laureate of the 2019 Mathematics and Computer Science Prize; the interactive exhibit "Mechanism of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Infection of Liver Cells" showcases the groundbreaking research of ProfessorLi Wenhui, laureate of the 2022 Life Science Prize, who discovered how a specific receptor on the surface of human liver cells is exploited by hepatitis B and D viruses to cause infection; and the "Catalysis Reaction Simulator" allows visitors to learn about the research of ProfessorZhang Tao and ProfessorLi Yadong, laureates of the 2024 Physical Science Prize, in the field of Single-Atom Catalysis and to explore how this technology enhances industrial efficiency.

In addition, the 2026 Future Science Prize Week will take place during the exhibition period. One of its highlight events, Science Symposiums, will be held on November 6 and 7 at the Lecture Hall of the HKScM, where world-renowned scientists will share scientific discoveries on cutting-edge topics. 93.2 per cent of Wang Fuk Court owners signed Agreement for Sale and Purchase before deadline

A spokesman for the Housing Bureau said today (October 16) that the deadline for owners of Wang Fuk Court (WFC) in Tai Po to complete the execution of the Agreement for Sale and Purchase (ASP) for the sale of their WFC flats expired yesterday (October 15). A total of 1 850 owners from the eight buildings (Blocks A to H) of WFC have signed the ASP accounting for 93.2 per cent of the total number of units in the eight buildings.

Some owners were unable to sign the ASP in time due to special circumstances such as requiring a longer time to clarify or handle the title of the WFC flat including probate, bankruptcy, title disputes, cases involving mentally incapacitated persons, or the fact that the owners are currently outside Hong Kong. Similar special circumstances are also encountered in private market transactions. The Government may consider making appropriate arrangements on a case-by-case basis at the Government's discretion while balancing empathy, reason and law, with priority given to empathy.

The Government will continue to follow up on the assignment procedures at full speed to complete the transfer of titles.
