North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region aims to further advance its high-quality green development by stepping up ecological conservation and promoting the development of the local computing power industry, following Chinese President Xi Jinping's inspection trip to the region's Ulanqab City on Friday.
While visiting the Huangqihai Lake nature reserve, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, learned about Inner Mongolia's efforts to strengthen ecological and environmental protection and called for further efforts to respect, adapt to and protect nature, fully implement the Wetlands Conservation Law, strictly enforce ecological conservation redlines, and enhance the quality and stability of ecosystems.
"I invited the general secretary to look through binoculars at the birds on the lake. As he looked, he asked what that big patch ahead was -- it was a huge flock. I told him some 30,000 migratory birds come here each autumn. He was very pleased and told us to stay committed to an approach that protects and manages mountains, waters, forests, farmland, lakes, grasslands and deserts as a holistic system and to minimize human disturbance," said Ban Xiuping, party secretary of Qahar Right Wing Front Banner in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia.
Xi also visited Chahar High Tech Development Zone in Ulanqab and learned about Inner Mongolia's progress in advancing the construction of a hub for the 'East Data, West Computing' project and the development of the green computing power industry.
"The industrial landscape of Ulanqab boasts a relatively dense cluster of computing power hubs. Our industrial chain has begun to expand, and the ecosystem for the green computing power industry is also gradually improving. Following the general secretary's requirements and instructions, we will continue to upgrade the computing power industry and improve its quality, turning our advantage in having clustered computing power hubs into an advantage for broader industrial development," said Guo Xiaoling, director of the Ulanqab Big Data Administration Bureau.
Cao Siyang, director of Inner Mongolia Energy Administration said that given the region's abundant new energy resources, it aims to promote the coordinated development of the new energy and computing industries, along with the expansion of power grids.
"We will act on the requirements of upholding high efficiency, green development and security. Building on Inner Mongolia's abundant new energy resources, we will coordinate the growth of the computing industry, the development of new energy, and the layout of the power grid and advance them in an integrated manner. We will advance the coordinated and high-quality development of computing power and power industries in light of local conditions, strive to build a nationally important base for safeguarding green computing power, and make new and greater contributions to serving the national 'East Data, West Computing' project and safeguarding national energy security," said Cao.
