The Stars, who trimmed their NHL-best team goals average to 1.50, outshot the Blackhawks 32-19 in this one and limited Chicago's chances.
Spencer Knight blocked 28 shots in his fourth straight start as the Blackhawks' two-game winning streak ended.

Robertson opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 4:58 of the second on the Stars’ 14th shot. He fired over Knight’s glove and into the upper right corner of the net from a scrum and about 15 feet out.
Hyry upped it to 2-0 with 5:50 left in the the second when he completed a 2-on-1 break with Sam Steel by snapping off a high one-timer.
Knight stopped Hyry on a short-handed breakaway with 52.9 seconds left in the second.
Hyry's second goal at 1:27 into the third made it 3-0. The Finnish forward broke to the net, gained a step on defenseman Wyatt Kaiser and lofted in high backhander.
Hintz connected from the left faceoff circle midway through the third to complete the scoring. Oettinger made a point-blank save on Cole Smith with 6 minutes left.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (AP) — Fire crews in Southern California gained ground Saturday on a wind-driven blaze that charred hills and damaged or destroyed at least six large coastal homes, allowing evacuation orders to be lifted and thousands of people to return home.
The fast-moving Norte Fire sparked the previous day in San Clemente amid hot, strong Santa Ana winds that drove it into San Juan Capistrano, prompting the evacuation of about 16,000 residents.
Hundreds of firefighters deployed to combat the blaze in the hills of Orange County. At one home engulfed in smoke and fire, photos showed them using hoses to try to douse the flames.
Most of the evacuations were lifted Saturday evening, except for one street in San Clemente.
The Norte Fire was one of several in the region hit by the Santa Anas, which blow from the interior and toward the coast.
The strongest winds hit the area Friday afternoon, but conditions of increased fire risk were expected to last through Saturday night, with a heat advisory in effect until 8 p.m. on the coast of Orange and San Diego counties, the National Weather Service said.
The blaze area remained under 1 square mile (2 square kilometers), and Chief TJ McGovern of the Orange County Fire Authority said crews increased containment to 25%.
