Iran on Sunday warned that any further "miscalculation" by the United States and Israel would trigger a more severe response from Iranian armed forces.
Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei said on X that Iran's armed forces have prepared "a more devastating plan" than before.
Noting recent "ramblings and repeated threats" from U.S. and Israeli officials, he warned that Iran's new operational plan will not proceed with "rules that they know."
Also on Sunday, Iranian lawmakers approved Mehrdad Akhlaghi Ketabchi as the country's new defense minister in a vote of confidence, according to the news agency IRNA.
During an open session of parliament, lawmakers voted 237 in favor and 15 against, with no abstentions, to confirm Akhlaghi.
Iran's former Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh was killed in U.S.-Israeli strikes on Feb 28. Following his death, President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed Seyed Majid Ebn Al-Reza as acting defense minister.
Akhlaghi previously served as managing director of Iran's Aerospace Industries Organization.
Akhlaghi said that Iran has taken all necessary measures to counter the so-called "Mother of All Bombs" and is confident in its military preparedness, referring to the U.S. President Donald Trump's threats involving the bomb.
CNN on Thursday reported that the U.S. military had developed new strike plans that could involve using the "Mother of All Bombs" to target Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear sites if Trump orders a resumption of combat operations, either before or after the midterm elections.
On Feb 28, the United States and Israel launched joint military strikes on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, killing Iran's then Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, senior military commanders and officials as well as civilians. Iran responded with waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and U.S. bases and assets in the region, and tightened its grip on the Strait of Hormuz.
