ALISO VIEJO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 19, 2026--

indie Semiconductor (Nasdaq: INDI), an automotive solutions innovator, today announced it has been awarded “In-Cabin Solution of the Year” by AutoTech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global automotive and transportation markets.

indie’s combined driver and occupant monitoring system (DMS/OMS) in-cabin platform is a pre-integrated pairing of the company’s next-generation Edge AI SoC, iND881, with its emotion3D in-cabin perception stack. The platform can be deployed as a fully pre-integrated hardware–software package with the iND881, or used independently as a standalone perception software offering, providing greater flexibility to meet customer architectural requirements. This integrated approach helps significantly reduce third-party IP complexity and development risk through hardware co-design, with no hidden incompatibilities.

By offering hardware and software through a single vendor, customers benefit from one team and contract spanning proof-of-concept through series production. Both the iND881 and emotion3D software are also available independently, giving customers the flexibility to work on their existing hardware or software partners.

“We are honored to have our perception software and hardware recognized by AutoTech Breakthrough. This award validates our capability of combining hardware and software and delivering performance reliability and accelerated deployment to our customers at an attractive price point,” said Florian Seitner, vice president and general manager, perception software at indie. “As in-cabin sensing requirements grow more stringent under evolving safety regulations and driven by consumer expectations, having a single partner with a proven track record of delivering systems into series production is a significant advantage.”

“indie’s unique platform eliminates third-party IP complexity and removes the risk of undiscovered incompatibilities. Historically, automakers and Tier 1 suppliers have faced a fragmented sourcing model: hardware and software from individual vendors that leads to integration chaos. When something breaks in production, accountability ping-pongs between vendors. Costly late-stage incompatibilities delay launches,” said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, AutoTech Breakthrough. “Beyond simply introducing a new sensing feature, indie delivers a structural shift in how in-cabin systems can be sourced, integrated, and brought to market. In the end, customers benefit from a more predictable, lower-risk path from concept to production. We’re excited to award indie with ‘In-Cabin Solution of the Year.’”

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Lakers waived guard Dalton Knecht on Monday in their final roster cutdown for the regular season.

Knecht was the Lakers' first-round pick in 2024, and he briefly appeared to be a star in the making early in his rookie season. The 2024 SEC Player of the Year at Tennessee scored 37 points while hitting nine 3-pointers against Utah in November of that year in the highlight of a nine-game stretch in which he averaged 18.9 points per game.

But Knecht never matched that success again, and he never regained significant playing time for the Lakers after he was briefly traded to Charlotte in February 2025. The Lakers sent Knecht, Cam Reddish and draft considerations to the Hornets for center Mark Williams, only to rescind the traded hours later after Williams' physical.

Knecht averaged just 10 minutes per game last season, never earning a regular rotation role.

The decision means the Lakers are keeping guard Bronny James for the start of a third season after the offseason departure of his father, NBA all-time scoring leader LeBron James.

Bronny James appeared in 69 games over his first two seasons with the Lakers, averaging 2.7 points per game.

The Lakers open the regular season at home against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.
