The International Organization for Mediation (IOMed) has received widespread support and positive responses from the international community in its first year, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press briefing in Beijing Tuesday while marking the first anniversary of the organization's official inauguration.
"In the one year since its founding, the International Organization for Mediation has received widespread support and positive responses from the international community. The number of founding and signatory member states has grown to 48 and the organization has successfully mediated international commercial disputes, earning high praise and recognition from the disputing parties. The International Organization for Mediation is committed to creating a new platform for all parties to solve disputes in a peaceful and amicable manner, and providing important public goods of the rule of law for the international community. We expect more countries to join the International Organization for Mediation and fully leverage its services and make contributions to the peaceful settlement of international disputes and the advancement of world peace and development," she said.
Headquartered in Hong Kong, the IOMed is the world's first intergovernmental legal organization dedicated to resolving international disputes through mediation.
