SwitchBot Launches Permanent Outdoor Lights with Matter, RGBIC Effects, and Dedicated White Lighting

TOKYO, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SwitchBot, a leading provider of AI-enabled embodied home robotics systems, today announced SwitchBot Permanent Outdoor Lights, a 30m smart outdoor lighting system that combines RGBIC color effects, dedicated warm- and cool-white lighting, native Matter over Wi-Fi, and a weather-resistant design for year-round use.

Designed for eaves, porches, balconies, garage entrances, pergolas, patios, and backyard walkways, SwitchBot Permanent Outdoor Lights brings seasonal decoration and practical everyday illumination into one permanently installed system. Homeowners can create colorful displays for holidays, parties, and sporting events, then switch to natural white lighting for daily outdoor visibility without replacing or reinstalling their lights.

Color for Every Season, White Light for Every Night

SwitchBot Permanent Outdoor Lights feature a 3-in-1 RGBIC+WW design that combines RGB color, warm-white light, and cool-white light. The 30m system includes 72 LEDs across six 5m segments, with integrated IC control enabling multiple colors to appear across the installation at the same time.

Supporting 16 million colors, the lights can create gradients, flowing effects, chasing patterns, and multi-color arrangements that add depth to a home's exterior. Users can decorate for Christmas, Halloween, celebrations, game days, or outdoor gatherings without installing separate seasonal lighting.

For everyday use, dedicated warm- and cool-white LEDs provide more natural functional illumination than white light produced by RGB color mixing. Each LED delivers up to 40 lm, with total brightness reaching up to 2,600 lm across the 30m system.*

Color temperature can be adjusted from 2700K to 6500K, with smooth 1% to 100% dimming through the SwitchBot app. Users can choose bright cool-white lighting for improved visibility, natural white light for general outdoor use, or lower warm-white illumination for a softer route home at night.

Matter over Wi-Fi Without an Extra SwitchBot Hub

With native Matter over Wi-Fi support, SwitchBot Permanent Outdoor Lights can connect to compatible smart home platforms without requiring an additional SwitchBot Hub (a Matter controller is still required, such as an Apple HomePod mini).

Users can integrate the lights with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, Home Assistant, SmartThings, and other supported Matter ecosystems for voice control, remote operation, and cross-brand automations. In Apple Home, users can turn the lights on or off, adjust supported lighting settings, and include them in scenes with other compatible devices.*

SwitchBot Permanent Outdoor Lights can also join the broader SwitchBot ecosystem, allowing users to coordinate outdoor lighting with other SwitchBot and Matter-compatible lighting products for arrival, evening, entertainment, and seasonal scenes.

Built to Stay Outside All Year

SwitchBot Permanent Outdoor Lights are designed to remain installed through changing weather conditions, reducing the need to climb, remove, store, and reinstall seasonal lights every year.

The light strings carry an IP67 dust- and water-resistance rating, while the controller and power adapter are rated IP65. A UV-resistant enclosure helps protect the system from fading and material degradation during long-term outdoor exposure.

With an operating temperature range of -4°F to 140°F (-20°C to 60°C), the lights are designed to perform through winter cold and summer heat. The LEDs offer a rated lifespan of up to 55,000 hours, reducing replacement frequency and the maintenance required for lighting installed around elevated exterior areas.

Flexible Installation for Different Outdoor Spaces

The 30m system is divided into six 5m lighting segments, making it easier to route the lights around rooflines and other architectural features. Included extension cables help bridge gaps between sections and support installations extending across distances of up to 36m.

SwitchBot Permanent Outdoor Lights can be secured using 3M adhesive tape and screws. Adhesive installation is suitable for compatible smooth surfaces such as finished wood and metal, while screws provide additional stability on rough wood, concrete, railings, and brick surfaces.

This flexible installation design allows homeowners to add accent lighting beneath eaves, above garage doors, under balconies, around garden structures, or along covered outdoor walkways.

Convenient Control for Everyday Routines

Users can control SwitchBot Permanent Outdoor Lights through the SwitchBot app, supported voice assistants, or the included wired controller. The controller provides physical switching and 10 levels of brightness adjustment, allowing basic operation even when Wi-Fi is unavailable.

In the SwitchBot app, users can adjust colors, white-light temperature, brightness, dynamic effects, scenes, schedules, and timers. Automatic schedules can switch the lights on in the evening and off later at night, helping reduce unnecessary energy use.

A built-in microphone also enables music-reactive lighting, allowing colors and effects to respond to surrounding audio during parties, outdoor gatherings, and sporting events. SwitchBot Remote, sold separately, provides an additional physical control option for household members who prefer not to use an app.

Pricing and Availability

SwitchBot Permanent Outdoor Light is already available through SwitchBot's official website and Amazon store, with an MSRP of USD 239.99 / CAD 299.99.
