The Export-Import Bank of China (China EximBank) has extended a cumulative total of more than seven trillion yuan of loans for cooperation projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), with the business coverage spanning more than 130 partner countries.
Chen Huaiyu, chairman of China EximBank, announced the figures Wednesday at a meeting of the Annual Conference of Financial Street Forum 2026 in Beijing.
The BRI, proposed by China in 2013, aims to build a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe, Africa and beyond.
Chen said the BRI has entered a new stage of high-quality development.
China EximBank will continue to consolidate its strengths in traditional infrastructure cooperation, including railways, ports and energy, while focusing on targeted efforts in areas such as clean energy and the digital economy to help partner countries build localized industrial systems, he said.
"We will advance both landmark projects and small yet impactful people-centered projects in a coordinated manner, and accelerate the tangible progress in building the green and digital Silk Roads. We support the implementation of the MAZU weather early warning system in Africa to help local communities enhance their capacity for meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation," said Chen.
At the forum, China Eximbank signed a series of cooperation documents with multiple international financial institutions and enterprises, covering financial cooperation, industrial empowerment and outbound investment, among other areas.
