Various commemorative events were held across China on Thursday to mark the 90th anniversary of the Red Army's Long March victory, as people from all walks of life honored the revolutionary legacy in diverse ways.
At the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution in Beijing, many visitors arrived early Thursday morning.
The themed exhibition "The Great Expedition," commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Long March victory, has attracted over 590,000 visitors since its opening a month ago.
Meanwhile, a special event paying tribute to the 90th anniversary of the Long March victory was held Thursday morning aboard the G3998 high-speed train traveling from Ruijin—the starting point of the Long March — to Yan'an, which served as the revolutionary heartland of the Communist Party of China after the Long March.
Many passengers chose to travel to Yan'an on this day to retrace the historic footsteps of the Long March.
At the Yangjialing Revolutionary Site in Yan'an, many young tourists visited on Thursday for tours and study programs.
They said that during those arduous years, revolutionary predecessors forged ahead and ignited the nation's hope at this very place.
Some added that only by treading these historical grounds could they deeply understand the Yan'an Spirit and fulfill their missions with their youth.
The Long March (1934-1936) was a military maneuver by the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. Some marched as far as 12,500 km, enduring hunger, thirst and cold.
It later became a defining episode in modern Chinese history, symbolizing endurance and perseverance as troops crossed some of the country's harshest terrain to establish a new revolutionary base before the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.
