Family Council's Primary School Roving Interactive Drama Series premieres successfully today

The Primary School Roving Interactive Drama Series, jointly held by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB) and the Family Council, premieredat Yaumati Catholic Primary School (Hoi Wang Road) this afternoon (October 23), with approximately 350 students and parents in attendance.

The Family Council adopted "Family: Harmony and Inclusivity" as this year's publicity campaign theme, aiming to foster the acceptance of diversity, cultural inclusion and intergenerational harmony within families, and further promote positive family values in the community, thereby building a harmonious and inclusive society while reinforcing the role of the family as the cornerstone of society.

Focused on the theme of "Family: Harmony and Inclusivity", the Primary School Roving Interactive Drama Series depicts the experiences and growth journey of the But's Family as they take part in the Spinning Top Competition for Primary Schools. The characters in the drama evolve from pursuing only victory to gradually learning to listen, empathise, and take responsibility; and from fearing failure to being willing to try and embrace self-affirmation. The experiences portray the power of family members standing by and supporting one another. Traditional Chinese virtues such as propriety, righteousness, integrity, shamefulness, love and benevolence, as well as peace and inclusion, are woven throughout the entire drama. Through diverse and interactive approaches, the drama allows the audience to step into the characters' situations and experience the importance of mutual respect and building consensus. The drama also highlights the importance of family strength, emphasising how the support and inclusivity of family members serve as a steadfast foundation when facing adversity. It also encourages the audience, especially young people, to practise virtues and demonstrate a spirit of benevolence, mutual support and positivity.

Speaking at the premiere, the Commissioner for Women Affairs of the HYAB, Ms Joyce Chan, said that the interactive drama blends traditional virtues with creativity, aiming to spark audience's interest and resonance. Besides promoting good family virtues, she also expressed her hope that the drama could inspire parents to guide their children towards positive, proactive and self-reliant values from an early age.

Ms Chan also mentioned that the Chief Executive announced in the 2026 Policy Address that the HYAB and the Family Council will organise the Hong Kong Excellent Family Awards again to promote good family values to the general public, inherit good family culture and virtues, and continuously inject positive energy into society.

Delivering a speech at the event, the Chairperson of the Family Council, Ms Melissa Pang, said that the interactive drama aims to promote the importance of traditional virtues, harmony and inclusivity to the younger generation, allowing positive family values to take root in households, extend to schools, and enrich society.

The interactive drama series will tour primary schools across Hong Kong, with around 70 performances staged from this month until March next year, promoting the strength of family and a culture of harmony and inclusivity to students.

CS attends Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area High-quality Talent Development Conference

The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Chan Kwok-ki, attended the opening ceremony of the fourth Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) High-quality Talent Development Conference and the third GBA Doctoral and Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition held in Dongguan today (October 25), and delivered remarks at the Conference.

In his remarks, Mr Chan said that under the "one country, two systems" principle, Hong Kong, with the strong support of the motherland and being closely connected to the world, serves as the country's international gateway. The city will continue to actively attract the talent required for the development of the country and Hong Kong, and work with GBA cities to continuously advance the alignment of rules and mechanisms, facilitating the flow of talent within the GBA.

Mr Chan highlighted that Hong Kong's First Five-Year Plan proactively aligns with the National 15th Five-Year Plan and promotes the integrated development of education, technology and talent. The Northern Metropolis University Town will also closely connect Hong Kong's strengths in basic research and internationalised education with the innovation and technology (I&T) and talent resources of the GBA. He said he looks forward to working closely with GBA cities to take talent co-operation to a higher level and contribute to the country's high-quality development.

Jointly organised by the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao GBA High-quality Talent Development Conference has been held in rotation across Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao since 2023. It serves as a vital platform for developing a high-calibre talent hub in the GBA. The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Chris Sun, also attended and officiated at the opening ceremony.

After the opening ceremony, Mr Chan and Mr Sun, accompanied by the Director of Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE), Mr Felix Chan, toured the exhibition hall and visited the HKTE booth.

Mr Chan and the delegation visited a key I&T enterprise in Dongguan yesterday (October 24) to gain an in-depth understanding of the local co-operation model in scientific research, innovation, and talent nurturing. The delegation subsequently toured the City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) to learn about the co-operation and synergistic effect between Hong Kong and Dongguan in higher education and talent cultivation, and to explore ways to further achieve complementary strengths and mutual benefits between two places.

Mr Chan and Mr Sun concluded their visit to Dongguan this morning and returned to Hong Kong in the afternoon.
