Israeli forces launched a military operation in the West Bank cities of Hebron and Jenin on Friday night, hours after Israeli leaders vowed to displace residents and carry out demolitions following a shooting attack near the city that wounded five Israeli soldiers.

Palestinian sources said Israeli forces on Friday night demolished a large number of Palestinian-owned structures in western Hebron, including commercial buildings and industrial facilities, and ordered multiple Palestinian families to vacate their residences.

The sources added that Israeli forces also raided a Palestinian residential area near Jenin the same evening and verbally informed many Palestinian families to leave their homes within a week.

In a joint statement, the Israeli military and Shin Bet domestic security agency said the operation is expected to continue for "several days" and is targeting an area of Hebron from which the two Palestinian gunmen who carried out the attack had come.

The statement said the operation was aimed at locating and dismantling "terrorist infrastructure," seizing weapons and questioning suspects.

"The operation is targeted and limited to the area from which the terrorists operated," it said, adding that residents would be allowed "to leave through three designated exit points" after undergoing questioning and security screening.

Earlier in the day, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed to extend the military's tactics in the Jenin refugee camp to Hebron.

"The entire neighborhood in Hebron" from which the gunmen emerged "will be evacuated of its residents," Katz wrote on social media platform X, pledging to dismantle "terrorist infrastructure." "As in Gaza, as in Lebanon," he added.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday vowed to expand military operations and demolitions in Hebron, four days before Israel's parliamentary election.

The operation followed a Friday shooting near Hebron in which five Israeli soldiers were wounded, two of them critically. Israeli forces shot dead the two Palestinian shooters.

Ukraine's Defense Ministry monitoring data shows that the Starlink and Starshield satellite communication systems have restored performance, the country's defense minister Evgeniy Khmara said on Saturday.

The connection is stable, with speeds exceeding 400 kilometers per hour, Khmara said, according to Ukraine media.

Starlink is a satellite internet constellation operated by U.S. aerospace company SpaceX that provides high-speed broadband connectivity worldwide. Starshield is its militarized version. Ukrainian forces rely heavily on both systems.

Khmara said the restoration is of significant importance for frontline operations, as the systems support troop mobility, drone missions, military logistics and battlefield communications.

He added that Ukraine will continue to monitor the operational status of both systems, and assess the level of communication capability.

Ukraine had repeatedly said SpaceX restricted Starlink services, hampering the country's attack and air-defense drone missions.
