China's top political advisor Wang Huning on Saturday accompanied Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on a visit to Dandong in northeast China's Liaoning Province.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, conveyed General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to Kim.

Welcoming Kim at the square of the Memorial Hall of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea on Saturday morning, Wang accompanied the DPRK leader in paying tribute to the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) martyrs by laying a floral basket at the memorial tower and observing a moment of silence.

During his tour of the memorial hall, Kim viewed the rare cultural relics and historical materials reflecting the CPV martyrs' bravery and the joint struggle of the two nations in resisting U.S. aggression, and presented a set of hand-inscribed historical photos to the memorial hall.

In their meeting, Wang said Kim's special visit to Dandong on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the CPV's entry into the DPRK to fight in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea fully reflects the treasuring by the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government of the China-DPRK friendship forged in blood.

The visit is of great significance, Wang said, as it carries forward the traditional friendship, consolidates the popular foundation of goodwill, deepens the political mutual trust and promotes the joint pursuit of cooperation and development between the two countries.

Wang noted that China is ready to work with the DPRK to unswervingly implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties and two countries and to take the common cause of socialism as a bond to push for the further elevation and development of China-DPRK relations. This, he said, will better benefit the two peoples and help create a peaceful and stable external environment for safeguarding their respective sovereignty, security and development interests.

For his part, Kim asked Wang to convey his warm greetings and best wishes to Xi, saying that his special trip to Dandong is to honor the CPV martyrs who came to the aid of the DPRK with their lives and blood at a critical historical juncture.

The visit is also meant to express the DPRK's heartfelt gratitude and lasting respect for the heroes of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, he added.

Kim said Xi's historic visit to the DPRK in June showed the great importance he attaches to China-DPRK relations and marked a milestone in bilateral ties. The DPRK is ready to work with China to carry forward their traditional friendship, expand practical cooperation and deliver tangible benefits to the two peoples.

In the afternoon, Wang accompanied Kim on a visit to an automobile factory in Dandong, where they inspected the production workshop and were briefed on its operations.

When Kim left Dandong, Wang saw him off at the new China-DPRK Yalu River Bridge.

China on Saturday expressed serious concern and firm opposition to new U.S. outbound investment restrictions, saying that it will closely follow relevant developments and reserve the right to take all necessary measures.

The statement made by a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce came in response to a media query regarding the U.S. Treasury Department's updated proposed rules on outbound investment released on Friday.

In the statement released on the ministry's official website, the spokesperson said that the proposed rule expands the scope of investment restrictions targeting China in a discriminatory manner and intensifies these constraints, which is a classic example of generalizing the concept of national security and runs counter to the important consensus reached by the two heads of state.

It also interrupts normal economic and trade cooperation between Chinese and U.S. enterprises, and undermines the international economic and trade order, the spokesperson added.

Highlighting China's enormous market and immense consumer and investment potential, the spokesperson emphasized that investing in China means investing in the future.

U.S. restrictions on investments in China not only hinder bilateral economic and trade cooperation, but also harm the interests of American enterprises themselves, the spokesperson noted.

China urges the U.S. side to respect the laws of a market economy, stop overstretching the concept of national security, stop politicizing and weaponizing trade and economic issues, and create an enabling environment for China-U.S. business cooperation, said the spokesperson.
