A bougainvillea that climbed a street lamp and burst into bloom at the top has gone viral online in Danzhou, south China's Hainan Province, turning an ordinary stretch of roadside green belt into an unlikely local landmark.

The bougainvillea, Hainan's provincial flower and one of the most common ornamental plants across the tropical island, grows in a roadside green belt along an urban street in Danzhou. Its branches have made their way up the hollow interior of a street lamp pole, with the tips emerging from the top and bursting into vivid magenta blooms.

The striking sight, featuring a street lamp seemingly crowned with flowers, has drawn attention from passersby and internet users alike, with many praising the plant's tenacity and the unexpected beauty it brings to the city street.

The People's Bank of China, the central bank, will carry out 700-billion-yuan (about 104.8 billion U.S. dollars) one-year medium-term lending facility (MLF) operations on Monday to maintain ample liquidity in the country's banking system.

The central bank said the MLF operations will be conducted through variable-rate tenders with a fixed quantity, using a multiple-price auction.

The MLF is a monetary policy tool used by the central bank to provide medium-term base money, which can be conducted through a tender process.

Introduced in 2014, it helps commercial and policy banks maintain liquidity by allowing them to borrow from the central bank using securities as collateral.
