Two 500-year-old ginkgo trees at Jinci Temple, an ancient site in Shanxi's provincial capital of Taiyuan in north China, have entered their best viewing time of the year, attracting crowds to enjoy the beauty of golden leaves.

Inside the temple complex, the leaves of the two ginkgo trees, which date back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), are donning their autumn hues. Framed by ancient architecture, the trees are a popular attraction.

"The place possesses a very profound cultural heritage. The trees are truly resplendent, with a vast, brilliant expanse of golden yellow," said a visitor surnamed Gao.

Jinci Temple was built as a shrine dedicated to the first feudal lord of the Jin State during the early Western Zhou Dynasty (1046-771 BC). Today, houses a wealth of cultural heritage that dates back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

Trade between the nine mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) countries hit a record 5.58 trillion yuan (around 837 billion U.S. dollars) during the first three quarters of 2026, representing a year-on-year increase of 26.7 percent, according to the latest customs data.

High-end manufactured goods, including machinery, electronic goods and integrated circuits, along with green products, were the main drivers of this growth.

The nine major cities in the GBA are Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province. Together with the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, these cities form one of China's most dynamic economic hubs.
