HONG KONG, Nov. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- GS1 Hong Kong announced that applications are now open for the IOT Data Hackathon 2027, returning for its 4th edition after three successful years of strong participation and industry engagement. Organised by GS1 Hong Kong in collaboration with Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited and The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, and supported by the Digital Policy Office, the Hackathon invites tertiary students, innovators and entrepreneurs to transform IoT data, open data, and alternative data into practical solutions for real business and societal challenges.

Applications are now open until 20 December 2026. Participation is completely free.

Real Data. Real Challenges. Real Impact.

This is not a theoretical exercise. Participants take on real challenge statements from leading companies. Shortlisted teams get access to challenge providers' datasets, so they can build solutions on the data businesses actually use. Along the way, participants will gain hands-on experience in data analytics, AI, and problem-solving.

Teams choose one challenge under one of two themes:

  • Data for Business: Build solutions for commercial innovation and efficiency, e.g., Connected Commerce, Intelligent Supply Chains, Smart Operations, and Data-Driven Logistics.
  • Data for Good: Improve quality of life, strengthen community resilience, and accelerate sustainable development, such as Smart Living, Health & Wellbeing, Urban Intelligence, and a Greener Tomorrow (ESG).

"Data is no longer just a business asset — it is a catalyst for innovation, resilience and meaningful change," said Anna Lin, Chief Executive, GS1 Hong Kong. "Through the IOT Data Hackathon, we aim to bring together Hong Kong's brightest minds to solve real-world challenges, connect with industry leaders, and turn ideas into solutions that can create measurable impact for businesses, communities and society."

A Launchpad for Ideas, Careers and Business Opportunities

The Hackathon is designed not only as a competition, but as a platform for learning, collaboration and growth. Participants will gain access to expert mentorship, workshops, industry feedback, networking opportunities and potential career or incubation pathways.

The 2026 edition attracted 160+ participating teams, supported by 13 distinguished judges, 26 expert mentors, 50+ partners, sponsors and supporting organisations, 10+ workshops and activities, and 35+ internship opportunities — reflecting the growing momentum of Hong Kong's IoT, data and AI innovation ecosystem.

Beyond a Competition
Participants will:

  • Learn data, AI and problem-solving skills by working on real-world challenges
  • Get mentored by industry and technology experts and receive useful feedback
  • Build connections with industry leaders, tech experts, fellow innovators, and potential employers
  • Gain exposure and recognition while building professional profile
  • Go further with fast-track routes to incubation and internship opportunities

Who Can Join

  • Student Stream: For teams whose members are currently enrolled in tertiary institutions, with at least one member studying at a Hong Kong tertiary institution.
  • Professional Stream: Open to start-ups, entrepreneurs and business professionals, with at least one team member who is a Hong Kong resident or employed by a Hong Kong company.

Each team may include up to six members, and each participant may join only one team.

IOT Data Hackathon 2027 Now Open for Applications -- Calling Innovators to Turn Data into Real-World Impact

SINGAPORE, Nov. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Marketing + Media Alliance (MMA) today announced the inaugural launch of Think Marketing Intelligence (TMI) 2026, a flagship AI marketing event designed to become APAC's definitive platform for looking at the real-world AI adoption across the marketing value chain.

Taking place on 24–25 November 2026 at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore, Think Marketing Intelligence (TMI) moves the industry conversation beyond theory and experimentation, to focus on immediate, measurable business impact driven by effective Human + Machine intelligence orchestration and with real life Hype to Hands-On focus on how AI is being deployed.

For years, AI has operated quietly behind the scenes of marketing, optimizing media buying, improving targeting accuracy, and enhancing performance. Machine intelligence is now stepping into a more central role of becoming a strategic collaborator who is Influencing creativity, shaping strategy and redefining how growth is delivered.

This shift presents a new leadership challenge.
Not whether to use AI, but how to confidently orchestrate it.

From Tool to Strategic Partner

Think Marketing Intelligence 2026 is built around the core theme "Human + Machine in ACTION. From Hype to Hands-On." The event positions AI not as a standalone technology, but as a strategic partner working alongside human talent to drive growth and business outcomes today.

The summit convenes APAC's senior marketing leadership, from the top Brands and Agencies and platforms - CMOs and the CXO leadership of CEOs, CROs, CCOs, CDOs, CGOs, and heads of media, data, digital, and growth. To master the transition of AI from an indispensable tool into a bold collaborator in creativity, strategy, and performance.

A Live Working Lab for AI in Marketing + Masterclasses - "Hype to Hands-on"

Unlike traditional AI or marketing conferences, Think Marketing Intelligence is designed as a live, working lab for AI adoption.

Over two days, the event showcases real-world applications of AI across the entire marketing journey. From insights, media, and data to omnichannel creative delivery, performance, commerce and measurement.

The experience is delivered through immersive formats curated specifically for senior leaders, including:

  • Thought Leadership - Keynotes and Panels from stalwarts of the industry
  • Hype to Hands-on – Masterclass sessions where delegates engage hands-on with AI tools to build campaigns and experiences in real time
  • "IMMERSE with AI / PLAY with AI"

Three dedicated Experience Zones anchor the summit:

  1. Insights, Media & Data
  2. Omnichannel Creative & Delivery
  3. Performance, Commerce & Measurement

The focus is firmly on today. Not tomorrow.

Clear Value for Delegates

Think Marketing Intelligence is designed to deliver tangible value for attendees. Senior leaders participating in the summit can expect to:

  • Leave with actionable frameworks for AI adoption across organization design, talent, processes, and governance
  • Access practical playbooks derived from real case studies and live demonstrations
  • Gain confidence to lead AI conversations internally with clarity and authority
  • Experience a personalized event journey, supported by AI-enabled agenda recommendations aligned to their role and interests
  • Build high-value connections through curated networking, smart badges, and AI-powered matchmaking within a trusted peer community

Ecosystem Collaboration and Long-Term Impact

Think Marketing Intelligence is supported by leading organizations across marketing, media, platforms, and technology, including global partners such as Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Material X, Singapore Tourism Board and Kantar along with regional and industry collaborators committed to responsible and effective AI deployment.

For sponsors and partners, the event provides a stage to show, not tell. Demonstrating AI capabilities to live within Experience Zones, engaging directly with C-level decision-makers, and building meaningful relationships grounded in proof and practice.

Beyond the summit itself, TMI serves as the APAC launchpad for long-term AI alliances under the MMA umbrella. Facilitating co-creation of AI-in-Marketing programs, industry playbooks, joint research, and the development of ethical standards. Strengthening MMA's role as the neutral convenor and trusted authority shaping the future of marketing.
