Australian clean technology company ClearVue sets up global R&D base in Hong Kong for Asian expansion

Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) announced today (November 6) that ClearVue Technologies Limited (ClearVue), an Australian clean technology company that converts solar energy absorbed by building façades into renewable energy, has established a new global research and development (R&D) base in Hong Kong. The facility will further expand to address increasing project management and business development needs in Asia, with a strategic focus on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Supported by InvestHK, ClearVue has previously announced a joint venture in Hong Kong with Mainland vacuum-glass manufacturer Luoyang Landvac Ti-Vig Co., Ltd. Through this joint venture, the two companies will collaborate on R&D, combining ClearVue's patented solar glass technology with Mainland manufacturing strengths to produce cost-effective, energy-generating glass for buildings. Hong Kong will play a pivotal role in this new global R&D base. InvestHK has been providing advisory services to ClearVue on its business establishment in Hong Kong, and connecting the company with local and international industry stakeholders and investors.

The Acting Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Arnold Lau, said, "We warmly welcome ClearVue's decision to base its global R&D in Hong Kong. Our city of high-rises is an ideal proving ground for technology that turns glass façades into clean power generators. This investment perfectly illustrates Hong Kong's unique value proposition - seamlessly combining Australian frontier technology with our local R&D strengths and the robust manufacturing capabilities of the broader GBA. We look forward to seeing ClearVue use Hong Kong as a springboard to promote not only its innovative solutions, but also this powerful synergy across Asia and beyond."

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of ClearVue, Mr Doug Hunt, said, "Hong Kong brings together everything we need to accelerate our growth in Asia. Strong local demand, a deep engineering talent pool and a well-regarded construction industry make it the ideal location to develop and deliver projects. Through our Hong Kong joint venture, we can combine our technology with Mainland manufacturing capabilities to make solar glass more cost-effective, while our R&D team benefits from easy access to rapid prototyping and testing. We will continue to invest in people and infrastructure in Hong Kong as our GBA projects take shape, and use the city as a strategic gateway for further expansion across Asia Pacific."

ClearVue is an Australian-listed clean technology company that integrates solar technology into building façades and rooftop surfaces to provide renewable energy generation and offset the operational carbon footprint of buildings. The company's advanced, patented glass technology preserves glass transparency, maintaining building aesthetics while generating energy.
