A 35-year-old Filipino was arrested on suspicion of raping and killing a university student in Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan in 2004. Two other Filipinos, who had escaped three years later, are on the international wanted list.
Twenty-one-year-old Misato Harada was found dead at Seimeigawa Riverside 13 years ago. The Ibaraki University student was found naked and died of suffocation, with deep knife wounds in her head, shoulder and chest.
On her body were different men’s semen, which suggests that she might have been gang-raped. Harada left a message that she would be meeting her friends a day before her death.
Police had investigated Harada’s friends and classmates but didn’t discover anything. Until recently they targeted on Lampano Jerico Mori, a Filipino worker living in Gifu Prefecture, and arrested him. Two other Filipinos who are in connection with the case are on the world wanted list. They were 18 and 19 years old respectively when the crime happened.
