There are "endless possibilities" for cooperation between the San Francisco Bay Area and China's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in various fields, San Francisco Mayor London Breed said in Shenzhen City of south China's Guangdong Province on Monday.
Shenzhen is the first stop of the mayor's trip on the Chinese mainland, after she spent two days in Hong Kong.
In Shenzhen, Breed actively interacted with representatives of U.S. business institutions and enterprises in China, as well as representatives of local enterprises in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, new energy and other industries.
Speaking to reporters about her expectations for future cooperation between the two bay areas, the mayor said the two sides should strengthen exchanges and learn from each other.
"There are endless possibilities to develop relationships, including relationships around tourism, business and everything that we came here for. It's important for us to learn from each other. My hope is that we are building those bridges, looking at cost effective ways to develop partnerships," said Breed.
During her stay in Shenzhen, Breed also plans to hold direct talks with local airlines and tourism companies with the aim to open more direct flights between Shenzhen and San Francisco and promote tourism and cultural exchanges between the two cities.
She will also visit Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai and other Chinese cities, according to a schedule released by the U.S. side.
