Chinese language is so vivid that many French learners are eager to have a direct experience of China, a French educator said.
Chinese language education has served as a bridge connecting Chinese and French cultures for the past decades.
It allows more French individuals to embrace the enchanting charm of Chinese culture.
N icolas Idier, inspector-general of Chinese language education in France, said that some French people have been learning Chinese from their childhood to adulthood.
"If you look at the general system, Chinese language is on the fifth rank in language at school, just behind English, German, Spanish and Italian. So in fact, it's the first language which is not European language, which means that a lot of French students, French kids are learning this incredibly rich language from their childhood to their adulthood," Idier said.
He said that the vividness that Chinese language has presented makes plenty of learners want to experience China more and directly.
"When you're studying language as vivid as Chinese, you want to go to China. You want to experience China. You want to have Chinese friends. You want to taste Chinese cuisine and you want to feel what is China, not only to study but to feel it, to have this direct experience of China. So the most important thing is to keep the gate open for the students, for their teachers and for the schools, because the more schools, the more students are going to China and the better the relationship between the two countries will be," Idier noted.
