Xi, his wife attend concert with visiting Italian president, his daughter

President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan attended a concert with visiting Italian President Sergio Mattarella and his daughter Laura Mattarella at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing on Friday night.

The concert focuses on the works by the renowned Italian opera composer Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924). Co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Italian Embassy, the concert featured performances by artists from both China and Italy.

The Italian president arrived in Beijing on Thursday for a state visit to China from Nov. 7 to 12 at the invitation of President Xi.

The visit came as this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership.

China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with a high-level delegation of the Austria-China Friendship Association, led by Austrian Federal Council President Markus Stotter, in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said that under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries, the connotation of China-Austria relations has been continuously enriched and cooperation in various fields has been steadily promoted.

Noting that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Austria, Zhao said China is willing to work with Austria to implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two countries, take into account each other's core interests and major concerns, create new highlights of cooperation in areas such as green transformation and digital economy, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, promote mutual understanding, safeguard multilateralism, and advance in-depth development of the China-Austria friendly strategic partnership.

Zhao added that China's NPC is willing to enhance exchanges with the Austrian parliament, share experiences in legislation and supervision, and foster a legal environment for practical cooperation. Zhao also briefed on the outline of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) for national socioeconomic development.

Stotter said the Austrian side attaches great importance to its relations with China and is willing to work with China to expand cooperation in economy and trade, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, legislation and other fields, and to enhance the friendship between the two peoples.
