China is willing to work with Indonesia to implement the states leaders' important consensus, striving to bring benefits to the two countries and their people through joint maritime development and cooperation, said a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman on Monday.
The Ministry's spokeaman Lin Jian made the statement in response to a reporter's question about a joint statement released on Saturday on advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership and the China-Indonesia community with a shared future.
"China has always advocated shelving disputes and seeking for joint development, always committed to working with its maritime neighbors to better manage disputes, promote cooperation, maintain stability, and achieve win-win results through joint maritime development. China is willing to work with Indonesia to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, getting relevant cooperation results to benefit the two countries and their people at an early date," said Lin.
"At the same time, China is willing to actively explore maritime cooperation, including joint development, with other maritime neighbors. The cooperation document on joint maritime development signed by China and Indonesia mainly clarifies the political consensus and direction of cooperation between the two sides in joint development and cooperation in the sea areas where the two countries have overlapping claims. The two sides will further discuss specific issues such as the content and way of cooperation," the spokesman said.
