The film industry plays a pivotal role in strengthening China-Brazil relations, with more and more people reaping the benefits of this growing relationship through exchanges, according to Eduardo Paes, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro.

In an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), Eduardo Paes, emphasized the significant role of the film industry in fostering closer relations between China and Brazil.

"We are honored to have President Xi here in Rio and all his team that came together, trying to get make the relation between Rio and China even closer. So, I think the film industry is very important for both our countries. So, we want to improve even more, the relations between Brazil and China. First, by the audiovisual industry," said Paes.

Highlighting the potential of the film industry, Paes pointed out the abundant opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.

"There is amazing space to improve the relationship between the film production in Brazil and in China, I think there's a huge market in China willing to see Brazilian productions, as you know, I mean there is A Escrava Isaura which was a huge success in China, City of God was a huge success in China. So, there's a bunch of opportunities for us to improve this relation," said Paes.

Paes also noted that the strengthening relationship between China and Brazil aligns with their shared efforts to elevate the Global South. He emphasized that many Brazilians, like himself, recognize the opportunities arising from this partnership.

"We are very similar, China is our greatest commercial partner these days. I had the opportunity to meet with President Xi, President Lula. We see how these ties between Brazil and China are getting even closer. For us Brazilians, we see the opportunity. As Mayor of Rio, I've worked with Chinese companies, I've been to China many times. So, we are going to push that work as deep as we can," said Paes.

The U.S.-Israeli war on Iran is creating the worst energy crisis the world has ever faced, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol said on Tuesday.

Birol said the energy crisis, resulting from shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz coupled with the fuel and natural gas supply issues brought about by the Ukraine crisis, has already had a huge impact globally.

Europe may have only about six weeks of jet fuel remaining if current supply disruptions persist, Birol warned on April 16.

In March, the IEA agreed to release a record 400 million barrels of oil from strategic stockpiles to combat rising oil prices caused by the war in Iran.

Approximately 20 percent of the world's crude oil and liquefied natural gas pass through the Strait of Hormuz during peacetime. Maritime traffic in the Hormuz has been severely disrupted since the U.S-Israeli strikes against Iran started at the end of February, sparking turbulence in global energy markets.
