Samoan Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata'afa commended China's initiatives on global development, security, and civilization, saying they offer valuable solutions for addressing global challenges, foster opportunities, and demonstrate China's responsibility as a major power.

In an interview with China Media Group (CMG) in Beijing on Wednesday, Mata'afa said that the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative are key parts of China's foreign policy, aimed at promoting the greater good for all countries.

"Your government has outlined three global initiatives. What I like about the approach that China takes is that it looks at the issue, it says this is our problem, collective problem, and China is putting forward these initiatives that would assist in addressing those challenges, creating opportunities. I like the approach, it's not sort of like we're going to do this for you. But China says these are problems, they provide the opportunities for countries to take up. And I think that particular approach is a responsible approach, it's about thinking about greater good, and it's for everyone. And I mean it's part of China's foreign policy," said Mata'afa.

Mata'afa further emphasized the practicability of those initiatives in helping them solve their problems.

"These are initiatives that can assist us reach resolutions to those problems. It's a very practical and responsible approach to global issues," she said.

As an important public good that China has provided to the world, the three initiatives have garnered growing international support, with some analysts saying they have injected vigorous impetus into building global peace, stability, prosperity, connectivity and harmony.

The U.S.-Israeli war on Iran is creating the worst energy crisis the world has ever faced, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol said on Tuesday.

Birol said the energy crisis, resulting from shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz coupled with the fuel and natural gas supply issues brought about by the Ukraine crisis, has already had a huge impact globally.

Europe may have only about six weeks of jet fuel remaining if current supply disruptions persist, Birol warned on April 16.

In March, the IEA agreed to release a record 400 million barrels of oil from strategic stockpiles to combat rising oil prices caused by the war in Iran.

Approximately 20 percent of the world's crude oil and liquefied natural gas pass through the Strait of Hormuz during peacetime. Maritime traffic in the Hormuz has been severely disrupted since the U.S-Israeli strikes against Iran started at the end of February, sparking turbulence in global energy markets.
