The regional bureau of China Media Group (CMG) in east China's Fujian Province was inaugurated and started operations in Fuzhou, the provincial capital, on Tuesday.

Zhou Zuyi, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Fujian Provincial Committee and chairman of Standing Committee of Fujian Provincial People's Congress, and Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee and CMG president, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Shen said that CMG will continue its comprehensive, multi-channel, and in-depth strategic cooperation with Fujian, aiming to enhance the province's reputation as "Fresh Fujian," a branding concept highlighting Fujian's unique cultural and natural characteristics, portraying the province as a tourist destination that seamlessly combines "fresh nature" with "fresh culture".

This partnership will inject new vitality and provide new momentum for implementing the New Development Philosophy and advancing high-quality development for both CMG and Fujian, and it will also contribute to further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization, Shen added.

During the event, the premiere of CMG's documentary "Hometown Above the Clouds: Kuliang" and the launch ceremony of the cultural program "China Through Its Intangible Heritage: Fujian" were also held.

Kuliang, or Guling in Chinese pinyin spelling, was a popular summer resort for expatriates in Fuzhou more than a century ago. It is also a place that witnesses the deepening bond between Chinese and American people ever since a number of U.S. citizens began living in the place.

The documentary tells the century-old story of Kuliang, narrating the heartwarming stories of China-U.S. friendship through footage filmed in both countries. It uncovers valuable historical materials and touching details, vividly illustrating the enduring bond of Kuliang and the enduring legacy of this cross-cultural connection. It will air on the CCTV's Documentary Channel (CCTV-9) starting December 8.

"China Through Its Intangible Heritage: Fujian" focuses on the city of Zhangzhou in Fujian, exploring culturally rich areas like the ancient city of Zhangzhou and the Minnan water town, witnessing the enduring legacy of cultural heritage.

An Algerian expert and a Uruguayan official criticized Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi for her wrongful remarks that exposed Japan's ambitions for military expansion, which is endangering regional and international order.

At a Diet meeting in early November, Takaichi claimed that the Chinese central authorities' "use of force on Taiwan" could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan and implied the possibility of armed intervention in the Taiwan Strait, which drew strong criticism worldwide.

Smail Debeche, president of Algeria-China Friendship Association, said Japan should end its attempts to expand military power as it did during World War II.

"I think the wrongful remarks made by the Japanese side are not in the interests of Japan itself and the Japanese people. It is irrational and illogical to make such statements. After World War II, Japan should have shouldered its corresponding responsibilities and obligations. However, instead of deeply deploring its war past and earnestly apologizing, Japan seems to be trying to expand its military power in the region and display arrogance, much like in the wartime era. This practice must be stopped," said Debeche.

Leonardo Batalla, who is responsible for international relations at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, said he firmly opposes the interference in China's internal affairs. "Japan's remarks are a provocative act. Japan is a defeated country in World War II. Now, its right-wing forces are attempting to revive the ambitions of the militarist era. Such an approach is detrimental to international relations because it interferes in China's internal affairs," said Batalla.
