As snow tour becomes a growing trend in China this winter, Liaoning Province in the northeast is welcoming a surge in tourists.
As one of China's premier winter resorts, Liaoning has become an attraction for many southerners, who can hardly have the chance to experience snow-covered landscapes in their hometowns, let alone the vast outdoor skiing fields.
"I am so excited. There is a huge skiing field for me to experience the sport," said Wang Siqi, a tourist from Shanghai. Located in a plain area, Liaoning has few high mountains, and the ski slopes are designed to follow the natural terrain, featuring generally gentle inclines that are friendly for beginners and children. In addition to skiing, resorts in the province also offer all kinds of chilling winter entertainment, like sledging and snow sliding.
"I have never had the feeling of being immersed in a snow world. It is so much fun," said Wang Mengzhu from the southern coastal city of Xiamen. After a day of ice and snow, Liaoning also provides tourists with China's best hot springs to relaxation.
"The water temperature is warm. In the outdoor, you can enjoy fresh air as well as the hot spring, which can help you to relax your body and mind," said tourist Li Meixian.
Scenery spots and resorts are also providing top-notch services to tourists .
"Targeting tourists from outside the province, we are providing warm services. For example, we arrange shuttle bus vehicles between the city center and our skiing field. And our hotels also provide one-stop services. According to the data collected on major tourism platforms, over 80 percent of our rooms have been booked for winter vacation and the Spring Festival holiday," said Wang Ying, deputy general manager of a skiing field in Shenyang, the provincial capital.
The local government has also rolled out policies and activities to promote winter tourism and consumption.
"We cooperated related departments to push forward policies to boost consumption, and offered toll fee discount for some sections of the highways," said Ai Fanglin, deputy head of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Liaoning Province.
