A two-day multimedia live event kicked off in Sanya City, in southern China's tropical Hainan Province on Wednesday, to celebrate the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year and heralds the Year of the Snake according to the Chinese zodiac.
Cultural and tourism representatives from across the country have gathered for the lively Spring Festival celebration, which was co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and Sanya Municipal Government. The event showcases the rich diversity and charm of China's culture, offering a spectacular cultural and tourism feast to ring in the Chinese New Year.
Travel bloggers have joined forces with culture and tourism bodies from Sanya to create a distinctive "Spring Festival" guide, which was featured in Wednesday's six-hour live streaming event. The guide highlights the city's key attractions, covering a wide range of experiences including dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment, giving a comprehensive overview of what Sanya has to offer during the festive season.
"I hope that we can attract more overseas tourists to Sanya and Hainan through cooperation with China Media Group," said Ye Jialin, head of the Sanya Tourism Promotion Bureau.
"It gives me a very different feeling when spending Spring Festival in Sanya, because I am wrapped with warmness both mentally and physically," said Zhang Baige, a Chinese travel blogger.
Sanya is also hosting a garden party where tourists from both home and abroad will have the chance to immerse themselves in Hainan's unique Spring Festival traditions and savor its signature cuisine.
Many foreign cultural and tourism bloggers were invited to the event and shared their experiences and impressions of Sanya, with some highlighting the city's global appeal and festive charm.
"Thanks to the availability of new services, foreign tourists can rent a mobile phone at some places like the airport. When they arrive in Sanya, they can enjoy the ease of getting a mobile phone and using it directly. I think it is really good and very convenient," said a travel blogger from Russia.
The multimedia live event will be broadcast live on different media platforms, with 100-plus social media accounts across over 50 cities sharing the live stream nationwide.
On Thursday, the live stream will feature cultural and travel representatives from over 20 Chinese cities who will share their Spring Festival travel tips and knowledge about China.
