Despite rising tensions between the two nations, a U.S. software engineer is cautiously optimistic about the future of China-U.S. relations under President Donald Trump.
President Trump was sworn in on January 20 as the 47th president of the United States.
China Global Television Network (CGTN) spoke with Eric Chow, a US-based software engineer, who shared his thoughts on what the next four years may hold for China-US relations.
Chow is hopeful that the two nations can put aside their differences and work together to create a better world.
"I'm cautious because U.S.-China tension is at an all time high right now. However, I'm optimistic because if you look at the last time Donald Trump was in office, Donald Trump did visit President Xi Jinping in China. They also met in Japan. And as far as I can tell, they had great talks, and it seemed like their relationship was pretty good. So, to me this kind of signals that both countries are willing to work together to establish diplomatic relationships, be on friendly terms, and to be good economic trading partners with each other. So, I'm just cautiously optimistic about the next four years. I hope two of the world's superpowers can work together to make the world a better place," he said.
