Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a four-day state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
During the visit, Xi will hold talks with the visiting Kyrgyz president on relations between their two countries and other issues of common interest.
During the interview with Chinese media outlets ahead of his trip, Japarov said that since the two sides elevated their bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era, cooperation highlights have been observed in many areas. The president especially recalled that last December, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project was officially launched. He described this as a new example of high-quality cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Meanwhile, Japarov said his country supports China's work as the rotating chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, hoping that this year's SCO Summit will inject new impetus into the development of the organization.
China's share in Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade reached a historic high of 35 percent last year. And China remains Kyrgyzstan's largest trading partner, as well as the largest source country of imports.
