Xinchuan Village will work with other villages across the country to achieve shared prosperity and rural revitalization, said Zhang Tianren, Party Secretary of Xinchuan Village in east China's Zhejiang Province and deputy to the 14th National People's Congress (NPC).
Speaking at a group interview ahead of the opening meeting of the third session of the 14th NPC at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday morning, Zhang shared the secret recipe that led Xinchuan Village to revitalization.
"One village becoming rich is not true prosperity. True prosperity is when everyone prospers together. In recent years, Xinchuan Village has partnered with Taipan Village in Taijiang County, Guizhou Province, Xiaogang Village in Fengyang County, Anhui Province, and several other villages to jointly promote rural revitalization. Over 80 enterprises in Xinchuan Village have also provided high-quality employment opportunities for more than 1,780 ethnic minority individuals from 32 ethnic groups across the country, helping them increase their incomes," said Zhang.
Zhang also said that he has personally witnessed the tremendous changes the "Green Rural Revival Program" brought to the mountain villages, where lush green mountains have been transformed into sources of prosperity.
The "Green Rural Revival Program" was launched in 2003 in east China's Zhejiang Province, one of the country's richest and most developed regions.
The program began with a mission to improve rural living conditions by renovating approximately 10,000 incorporated villages in five years, and by transforming about 1,000 of that number that were classed as central villages into examples of moderate prosperity in all respects.
He said that Xinchuan Village will work with other villages to achieve shared prosperity and rural revitalization.
"In the future, we will partner with more ethnic groups and villages across the country, uniting like pomegranate seeds. Together, we will share Zhejiang's experience in the 'Green Rural Revival Program' and comprehensive rural revitalization to achieve common development and shared prosperity," said Zhang.
