The Chinese military will spare no effort to reach the goals set for the centenary of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in 2027, a military spokesman said on Sunday.
Wu Qian, spokesperson for the delegation of the PLA and the People's Armed Police Force, made the remarks during the third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), China's highest organ of state power, in Beijing.
"Achieving the centennial goal of the PLA as scheduled and speeding up the building of a strong and world-class military are strategic imperatives for building a modern country in all respects. This journey is an accelerated path that must be completed on time, an uphill road with extremely arduous tasks, and a challenging course filled with risks. It concerns whether the blueprint of building a strong military can be realized, whether strategic capabilities can be formed, and whether we can win the initiative in future struggles. We must dedicate ourselves to overcoming difficulties, taking responsibility with resolve, confronting challenges head-on, and go all out to fulfill the mission of our era, so as to ensure that we achieve our goals with strong performance on schedule," said Wu.
According to Wu, deputies from the delegation of the PLA and the People's Armed Police Force have thoroughly deliberated the government work report, engaging in lively discussions and exchanges focused on sparing no effort to reach the centenary goal of the PLA.

The deputies also pledged to truly study, understand, believe in, and apply Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implement Xi Jinping's thinking on strengthening the military, further reinforcing unwavering loyalty, enhance Party committee development, strengthen efforts to improve conduct and combat corruption, and vigorously promote fine traditions to make solid progress in enhancing political loyalty winthin the military, said Wu.
"The armed forces will intensify troop training and enhance combat preparedness across the board, accelerate the transformation and upgrading of military training, strengthen new-domain forces with new combat capabilities, boost military preparedness in various aspects, and enhance the ability to win information-based and intelligent warfare. The armed forces will steadily advance high-quality development, concentrate efforts for a successful conclusion of the 14th Five-Year Plan(2021–2025), ensure the implementation of reform tasks, strengthen military governance, enhance law-based military management, and make sustained efforts to consolidate the foundation for achieving new progress in building a strong military," said Wu.
