Multiple delegations at the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing have recently held media open days, addressing journalists' questions on critical and widely discussed topics in open and enthusiastic discussions.

At the media open days hosted by NPC delegations from Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hubei, Anhui, and Hunan, the buzzwords "new quality productive forces" and "high-quality development" took center stage. NPC deputies engaged with journalists on issues including the seamless merging of technological and industrial innovation, as well as the evolution of the future industrial landscape.

Meanwhile, NPC deputies from the Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang delegations outlined strategies to enhance the business environment and foster private sector growth, gaining significant media attention.

"I have been attending and covering the two sessions since 2017. So, every time the Chinese government come up with new policies, for the welfare of the people and development of the country. So, every time you get new things, new feelings, new goals, new achievements," said Asghar Muhammad, a correspondent from the Associated Press of Pakistan.

Since the start of the year, cultural industries like film and cultural tourism have been gaining traction. During the media open days, journalists frequently focused on topics such as the integration of cultural tourism and the potential of film IP.

The Chinese animated blockbuster "Ne Zha 2," which set a new milestone by ranking 6th on the all-time global box office chart and surpassing the total revenue of "Avengers: Infinity War", was highlighted during the open day. Journalists eagerly inquired about its screening schedule in South American countries.

"The global success of 'Ne Zha 2' has boosted the cultural industry's popularity. We continue to cultivate and develop the digital-cultural and creative industries, fostering deeper collaboration between universities and enterprises in industrial parks. Currently, we are actively promoting the film's release in Argentina and other South American countries," said NPC deputy Chen Guanghao, who is the director of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.

Victor de Sousa Reis, a reporter from RTC, Radio and Television of Cape Verde, praised China's political system and its focus on people-centered policies.

"I think the the lifestyle, the politic is very good. They are very clever with the system. And I can see a country which is thinking about people, the quality of life, about to develop the technology. And it's good to see how they manage all these," he said.

During the media open days hosted by the Chongqing, Guangxi, Henan, and Hainan NPC delegations, deputies offered detailed perspectives on topics like advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, expediting the development of the new western land-sea corridor -situated in China's western hinterland and linking the Silk Road Economic Belt with the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road to support high-standard opening up - and strengthening practical collaboration with ASEAN.

Many foreign journalists shared a personal connection to China's recent progress in opening up, emphasizing that its high-quality development inspires global hope and confidence while promoting shared prosperity.

"It's a commendable development. I'm from Nigeria, which is part of Africa. And we in Nigeria are really enjoying the developments in Africa, especially that of BRI, the Belt and Road Initiative. Talking about agriculture, talking about the technology. And I would love to say that Africa, Nigeria will very much want to leverage on the relationship that we have so far built within the years," said Patricia Esami Lubba, a broadcast journalist at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

A carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and liquefaction facility now runs smoothly in south China's Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), signaling a major technological advance in the region's push toward green and low-carbon development.

The facility, located in Hainan's Chengmai County, was developed by Southern Petroleum Exploration and Development Corporation -- a Hainan-based subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) -- which focuses on oil and gas exploration and new energy development.

It captures, purifies and liquefies CO2 extracted from associated oilfield gas, with daily output of liquid CO2 now surpassing 100 metric tonnes.

"To date, our pilot project has cumulatively stored 360,000 tonnes of CO2 while boosting oil and gas output by 150,000 tonnes. This is equivalent to offsetting the annual carbon emissions of about 150,000 cars," said Wang Haisheng, executive director of Southern Petroleum Exploration and Development Corporation.

Building on its successful industrialization of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), the corporation is now pioneering advanced carbon storage technologies.

By refining capture technology and implementing a multi-dimensional monitoring network, the project has achieved long-term and stable CO2 storage, solidifying the foundation for a safe and low-carbon energy system in Hainan.
