Chinese shares close higher Monday

Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.96 percent to 4,152.57 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.66 percent higher at 15,856.61 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.1 percent to close at 4,021.16 points on Monday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is about to hold a welcome ceremony for visiting President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday.

At the invitation of Xi, Vucic is on a state visit to China from Sunday to Thursday.
