Over 200 guests attended the signing ceremony, including representatives of the strategic enterprises, local and international chambers of commerce, research institutions, universities, financial and professional services firms, relevant government bureaux/departments, as well as public organisations.

In the presence of the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, the enterprises attending the signing ceremony signed agreements to officially become strategic enterprise partners of the Government. The new batch includes 18 strategic enterprises (see Annex) coming from high-tech industries such as advanced manufacturing and new energy technology, AI and data science, fintech, and life and health technology. All have committed to establishing their global or regional headquarters, or research and development (R&D) centres, in Hong Kong.

Together with the 66 strategic enterprises previously attracted, they will invest about $50 billion in total in the years to come, creating over 20 000 jobs.

In his speech, Mr Chan said that Hong Kong treasures not only the investments, jobs and expertise that the strategic enterprises bring to Hong Kong, but also their products and solutions that will transform people’s ways of life and inspire new innovation.Their very presence supports Hong Kong’s vision of becoming an international innovation and technology (I&T) centre.

"Amid rising tides of unilateralism and protectionism, Hong Kong remains steadfast in our commitment to upholding our free-port status and free trade policy; ensuring the free flow of capital, goods, information and people; maintaining our simple and low tax system; and building a dynamic and vibrant I&T ecosystem with a full range of funding support. Coupled with the best connectivity and seamless access to the Mainland and Asia markets, here is the best launch pad for realising your ambition."

Mr Chan said that going forward, OASES will broaden its scope to also attract cultural and creative enterprises that can fuse I&T with artistry.Through Hong Kong’s platform, these enterprises can expand their businesses to various new markets.

OASES, in collaboration with other relevant government departments, provides the strategic enterprises with comprehensive services on all fronts to facilitate their business set-up and operations in Hong Kong, thereby promoting growth in the I&T sector and contributing to the overall economic development of Hong Kong.
