China Media Group (CMG) organized a series of multimedia events in various countries across five continents to mark United Nations Chinese Language Day, which falls on April 20 each year.

Centered around the theme of Chinese mythology, the events brought together overseas Chinese-language media outlets, Chinese language teaching institutions and individuals who appreciate Chinese culture to present a variety of cultural experiences and activities to global viewers.

Videos related to the event have been released on major platforms operated by CMG, and on Chinese and overseas social media channels, amassing nearly 15 million views around the globe to date.

"Legendary Encounters," a program produced by China Global Television Network (CGTN), part of CMG, brought together 70 young people from 29 countries across five continents online to showcase shared human values through storytelling, Q and A sessions, and improvisational performances based on their understanding of Chinese mythology.

CMG's Chinese-language international channel CCTV-4 also presented a program titled "Fascinating Chinese: Online Dialogue on Chinese Language Learning."

Teachers from overseas universities and Chinese learning institutions, as well as representatives from Chinese-language media, were invited to share unforgettable experiences and insights about international Chinese education and the dissemination of traditional Chinese culture.

The CCTV-4's online dialogue program also shared AI-powered short dramas on Chinese mythology with over 50 overseas Chinese learning institutions in France, Canada, Russia, Australia and other countries.

The Lai Ching-te administration's bid to seek Taiwan secession by leaning on external forces is doomed to be crushed, a State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

Recently, Lai again preached his secessionist agenda when meeting with Japanese politicians who were visiting Taiwan.

Zhang Han, the spokeswoman, slammed Lai's actions as a sellout of Taiwan's interests at a press conference in Beijing.

"In exchange for external support for its separatist agenda, the Lai Ching-te administration is repeating the tired refrain of 'democracy versus authoritarianism,' while turning a blind eye to the danger of Japan's right-wing forces marching ever further down a militarist path. It is fawning on Tokyo without any principle, ignoring the plight of the island's high-tech sector being hollowed out at will by Western powers, and selling out Taiwan's interests in a no-holds-barred fashion. The Lai administration's scheme to rely on external forces to seek secession will be thoroughly crushed," she said.
