A 94-year-old Chinese Canadian buyer, who has attended 69 sessions of Canton Fair, brought his daughter to this spring's event to connect with business partners and pass on his knowledge.
Hung Cheung Jang has signed hundreds of orders at the Canton Fair over the past 40 years, selling China's daily necessities to North America, but he finds the current Canton Fair astonishing.
"I have been visiting the fair for decades, and this year it seems to have changed significantly. I don't recognize many of the products," said Hung.
Hung signed his first order with a slipper exhibitor over 30 years ago, and they have been friends ever since. After greeting each other, Hung immediately introduced his daughter to the exhibitor to ensure that their partnership continues.
"We have been business partners for decades. Even if we don't do business, we will always be good friends," said Hung.
"My father hopes that we the next generation will continue the business, keep visiting the Canton Fair, and continue selling Chinese products," said Hung Tao, Hung's daughter.
Hung also took his daughter to another booth that has been selling soap to North America for decades. Although the current exhibitor is no longer the person Hung used to do business with, he recognized the brand.
"I'm getting on age now, so I bring my daughter to the fair," said Hung.
"The Canton Fair has a great reputation, showcasing excellent factories and products, which makes it convenient and confident for us to do business," said Hung Tao.
