An annual week-long event aiming to promote vocational education among the public has launched in China, with a series of engaging activities planned nationwide, according to the Ministry of Education.

Vocational Education Week 2025 is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Education and eight other government departments and will run from May 11 to 17. During the event, more than 90 industry-tailored activities that enhance the integration of education and industry are planned.

"Considering the key issues in the development of vocational education, we have designed seven theme days, including the vocational education discussion, industry-education integration demonstration and vocational skill shows. These events are aimed at leading the public to view skills as precious and mighty," said Li Zhi, Deputy Director of the Department of Vocational and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education.

An official from the Ministry of Education highlighted that currently China has established the world's largest vocational education system. As of now, there are 6,862 secondary vocational schools (excluding technical schools), 1,562 higher vocational colleges, and 60 undergraduate-level vocational schools across the country. Every year, about 10 million high-quality workers and skilled talents are cultivated for the society.
