The 34th Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair opened Saturday in Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, bringing together more than 1,500 exhibitors from around the world to showcase their products and services.

With a record-breaking exhibition space of 683,000 square meters, this year's fair features a main venue and six sub-venues, the largest scale in the event's history.

"Attending the 34th Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair are more than 1,500 exhibitors from 38 other countries and regions and 23 Chinese provincial-level regions," said Tan Baicheng, vice chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Heilongjiang Provincial Committee.

At the main venue based in the Harbin International Convention Exhibition and Sports Center, six specialized zones are showcasing products and services from diverse commercial sectors, including cross-border consumer goods, regional specialties, and smart manufacturing.

"We've selected 300 products for the fair, promoting them through both live-streaming and physical displays to highlight the charm of our port city's openness," said Dong Yuying, director of the E-Commerce Center under the Commerce Bureau of Suifenhe, a key border city in Heilongjiang linking China with Russia.

Marking a first, the event has two countries of honor this year -- Thailand and Mongolia. Exhibitors from both nations have brought an array of specialty products, complemented by vibrant cultural performances, food tastings, and interactive experiences.

"This is Thailand's first participation to the fair. We've brought here Thai SELECT-certified export-quality products, hoping this platform will expand our market reach in China," said Thai exhibitor Rattanaporn Srijitphet.

Running through May 21, the five-day fair will host nearly 100 supporting events, including debut product launches across all venues to stimulate consumption.

More than 20 films will hit Chinese screens during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday from Saturday to Monday, spanning genres from revolutionary historical dramas, realism movies to suspense thrillers, according to the China Film Administration on Thursday.

Revolutionary historical films such as Blood-Spattered Cliff, Eight Sons, Eight Soldiers, and Half Of The Quilt, will pay tribute to martyrs through the lens.

Three films -- It's OK, Now I Met Her, and Sunshine Women's Choir -- tell moving stories of love, growth, and reconciliation.

It's OK is a contemporary family comedy that follows a mother and daughter navigating their joyful yet turbulent relationship. Now I Met Her tells a rebellious teenager who gets to know his late mother through her old diary. Sunshine Women's Choir, a film from the Taiwan region of China, portrays the "perfect" maternal love of "imperfect mothers."

The suspense film Game of Identity tells the story of two people from different backgrounds who accidentally swap lives, setting off an unexpected adventure. The documentary films Seeking Nature: The Code of Life, and Missions to the Moon (Part One) explore the connection between humanity and science.

Imported films from different countries, including The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, Project Hail Mary, and Hoppers, will deliver spectacular cinematic experiences to audiences.

The Qingming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, falls on April 5 this year. It is a traditional Chinese festival for honoring the deceased and paying tribute to ancestors. The holiday also provides a short break for Chinese citizens as they engage in outdoor activities and sightseeing.
