An ongoing consumer goods expo in east China's Zhejiang province is seeking to expand China's imports and deepen industry connections with European Countries, said Shi Qiqi, deputy head of the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Provincial government on Thursday.

The 4th China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) Expo and International Consumer Goods Fair, held in Ningbo City, has attracted 435 companies from 14 Central and Eastern European countries, as well as 9 other European countries including the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, to exhibit products and seek business cooperation.

Shi said as the organizer of the event, the Zhejiang provincial government has introduced innovative measures in exhibition displays and event arrangements to deepen cultural exchange and economic cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries.

"For the first time, we created two sections: 'Digital and Intelligent CEEC' and "Charming CEEC,' showcasing nearly a hundred cutting-edge technologies and the rich history and culture of these nations. Our aim is to help more people connect with CEEC countries and encourage greater enterprise investment and business development in the region," he said.

Under the theme "New Visions for the Future", the four-day event features business matchmaking sessions, investment promotion and cultural exchange activities alongside an 80,000-square-meter trade exhibition.

"We aim to boost imports by strengthening connections between our key industries and CEEC products, increasing imports continuously, and actively supporting the 'going global' strategy of our competitive sectors to integrate into CEEC industrial chains," Shi said.

"Additionally, we will leverage existing platforms - such as the CEEC Online Exhibition, permanent pavilions, dedicated websites, trade logistics parks, and industrial cooperation parks - to regularly host economic and trade exchanges," he said.

This year's Expo is showcasing over 8,000 kinds of products from 435 CEEC companies. To enhance cultural and economic engagement, the event organizer has coordinated 11 cities and 6 CEEC trade zones across Zhejiang province to connect more than 100 companies through special supply-and-demand matchmaking events.
