China Media Group (CMG) signed an agreement with the organizing committee for the 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, and the 9th National Special Olympic Games on Saturday in Guangzhou, capital city of south China's Guangdong Province to broadcast and promote the sport events.

The 15th National Games will be held from November 9 to 21 and co-hosted for the first time in its history by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao as a move to deepen coordinated development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

As a main broadcaster for the Games, CMG has pledged to deploy its world-leading 4K/8K ultra-high-definition (UHD) technology to cover the event, launch a variety of integrated media products, and showcase the progress in building the Greater Bay Area.

The National Games will feature 34 sports and 23 large-scale non-professional sports activities. Most events are set to take place in Guangdong, while neighboring Hong Kong will host eight major events, including men's basketball, track cycling, and fencing, Macao will host four events including table tennis and women's volleyball.

The National Games, being held every four years, is China's highest level and largest national multi-sports event. The last edition in 2021 saw over 12,000 athletes compete in the northwestern province of Shaanxi.

Germany's economic recovery faces new headwinds from the escalating tensions in the Middle East, said Clemens Fuest, president of the renowned ifo Institute for Economic Research, one of Germany's largest economic think-tanks.

Fuest warned that the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran is undermining Germany's fragile economic rebound, compounding existing challenges from U.S. tariff policies.

"Germany is very heavily reliant on foreign trade and has been affected by U.S. tariff policies. Germany is at present in a difficult economic situation. We are currently at the same level as in 2019, which means six years of stagnation, now in its seventh year. And now the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran has been added to the mix. It was actually expected that growth would return this year, driven by government spending and borrowing, but the war with Iran has now intervened, meaning that growth this year will likely be weak, at around 0.6 percent," he said.

Fuest said that while Germany is not currently facing immediate shortages in energy supplies such as natural gas, disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz pose significant risks to global energy stability, and such disruptions would inevitably impact global industrial and supply chains, creating additional obstacles for Germany's economic recovery.
