China Media Group (CMG)'s short drama series, "The Miracles," went into production in the tech hub of Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province on Sunday, which will condense the reform and innovation of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone into high-quality episodes.
"The Miracles" is jointly produced by the CMG, the Publicity Department of Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Shenzhen Media Group. It innovatively adopts three co-creation mechanisms -- co-creation by the central and local governments, co-creation by artists, and co-creation by all citizens, breaking the traditional boundaries of creation and exploring a new paradigm for film and television production.
As a collection of short works, the short drama series will cover a wide range of subject types and use inspirational stories of ordinary people to reflect extraordinary changes in the development of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone since its establishment in 1980.
At the opening ceremony, the main production team and leading actors shared their fieldwork experiences of visiting nearly a hundred people who have witnessed the growth of the Special Economic Zone.
At the ceremony, representatives of workers from all walks of life in Shenzhen, prototypes of the characters in "The Miracles," and humanoid robots staged a scene play, further raising people's anticipation for the short drama series.
The promotional song "Chasing Dreams" was also unveiled on Sunday.
Short drama series is a newly emerged online drama type with vertical videos and episodes that last only a few minutes.
As the first original and self-produced high-quality short drama of the CMG, "The Miracles" is expected to innovatively express and boost mainstream values, mainstream public opinion and mainstream culture. By creating a new industry benchmark that combines political, artistic and social reflection and market recognition, it is believed to lead the short drama industry from "quantity flow" to "quality flow."
