Vietnamese Defense Minister Phan Van Giang called on the international community to utilize international security forums to enhance trust and promote cooperation at the 2025 Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore on Saturday.
The Dialogue, Asia's premiere defense and security summit, took place from Friday to Sunday amid geopolitical tensions.
"We should establish and implement effective cooperation mechanisms at both bilateral and multilateral levels. I believe that various security events, including the Shangri-La Dialogue, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum, the Moscow Conference on International Security, and the Munich Security Conference, are strategically significant platforms. These forums can promote the exchange of ideas, deepen mutual understanding, enhance trust, and promote more substantive and effective cooperation," Giang said at the second plenary session of the Dialogue.
The event drew representatives from 47 countries this year, including 40 ministerial-level delegates, 20 chiefs of defense forces-level delegates, over 20 senior defense officials, and prominent academics, according to Singapore's Ministry of Defense.
